I'm gonna be ordering a new set of copper gaskets tomorrow since I'm tired of the paper ones drying out and blowing out all the time. I've been running a 1.5" round gasket in the paper, but Mr. Gasket offers a 1.63 round in copper and thought it might work a little better then 1.5 rounds. I'm running 1-5/8 headman shorties and in the sticky above it lists the ID of the primaries at 1.53". I've been trying to figure out a lack of HP problem and thought this may not be helping my situation...with the gasket hole being .030 smaller then the ID of the primary. Now I was concerned with how they would seal. Now the flange should have more then .100" of sealing area right? What I'm saying is...if the ID of the primary is 1.53" and the gasket size is only .100 larger then that, it should still have enough surface on the flange to seal right? Any inputs or comments would be great.

Buy Percy's Dead Soft aluminum gaskets, those things are great and will seal your headers and are reusable. $35 for a pair at Auto Zone but worth it IMO.

I have the same gaskets and will recommend those as well.....

Agreed on the Pecy's. They are pricey but worth their weight in gold. They are the only gasket that keeps my warped flanged blowtechs from leaking.

Thanks for all the great imput guys but keep in mind that I'm mainly concerned with the sealing with the sizes of the gaskets ports and the primary diameters.

These Percy gaskets can also be ported matched as well....anyways just a thought...it is true to what they say...they may very well be the last ones you buy.....for that engine anyways.....

Correct, they say you can trim them to fit but they didn't need any trimming to fit my SLPs. The ports were plenty big.
