Non crackle muffler
most sound clips i've heard, all the muffler sound like they crackle and pop when the RPMS are droppin...do all aftermarket mufflers do this??? does anybody know of any that have a nice low grunt sound, yet very noticable...does the loudmouth crackle, and where can I find a loudmouth muffler, just the muffler???

I couldn't personally tell you which ones mufflers crackle and which ones don't, but I do know that my Flowmaster crackles when you let off. Also, from what I understand, the Loudmouth does not have a muffler, just a resonator

My old Flowmaster used to crackle and pop, and sounded ratty. They all do that. However my new Hooker catback does not and sounds mucho better

I hear good things about Spintech mufflers. They're more like Flowmasters but dont drone, not sure about crackling but I bet it has a lot less of that.
I too am going with Hooker, nothing beats that NASCAR-ish sound lol. It is really loud with headers, if all that you're getting is the muffler, not a cat-back and headers/y-pipe then your best bet is probably the no muffler route lol.

no, i'm redoing my whole exhaust...LongTube headers, custom 3 inch y pipe, maybe 3.5 inch Y pipe, then either 3 inch of 3.5 inch exhaust tubing running back, out dual 4.5 inch tips, i just gotta find a muffler...i'm just worried baout not being satisfied with loudness....i got a pinky sized whole in my left header right now, and it gets pretty loud when i tromped on it, when i drag race, it makes my ears ring cause its so loud...and i dont' want anythign much quiter/if any than that...i would like it to be louder than that, but not right by my body, if it were louder at the back of the car that will be good...do you guys think i'm a contestant for just straight pipes with no muffler???? or is it better to have a muffler on there??

My hooker setup pops and such w/ the new motor, and did w/ the 305 too... a lot of craking etc is due to exhaust leaks, and mini backfires in the pipe when cool air hits the hot exhaust.
Check for that.

i know why exactly mine is crackling right now, its because i got a hole in my header, and its runnign a bit rich, so when i let off of the gas, it throws a bunch of unburnt gas in the headers, adn then ignites because the hole supplys it air to ignite...making it pop and whatnot...but if i spend 200+ on exhaust, it better not pop or crackle!

from what your looking for, hooker catback is DEFIANTLY the answer for you.. only reason a hooker would crack is theres leaks in your system.. mines tight and im runnign modified 2055 headers with no cat and it never crackles or pops.. altho i had an exhaust leak for a few days cause my collector bolt came out for whatever reason during motor breakin period and it popped alot from that.. its air getting in the system so..
go with hooker i promise youll have the biggest grin on your face when you fire it up and hear it i did

well i'm just lookin for a muffler, not a catback system...my dad has a hook from work on stainless piping 3 inch or 3.5 inch...and he makes some nice slash tips also, so i'm just gonna get a muffler, then we can weld up the rest of the exhuast....so should i go with the hooker aerochamber or the spintech crossflow??

all in all that is up to you. if you want more flow then the numbers prove Spintech to flow better. If you love that Hooker sound, then it's up to you really. Personally I'd rather have Hookers with less flow, but sound meaner
Of course, that's my personal opinion!

I have never had any popping or crackling. I'm carbureted with a cutout before the cat, and before that I was TPI with the cutout after the muffler. Neither has crackling, with the cutout open or closed.
The mufflers is some sort of flowmaster muffler.

My Flowmaster never crackles; it’s a 40's series though. The 80 series I had on their before crackled a lot! But my newest setup hooker 2055's, Catco cat, all 3" piping to a Flowmaster 40 DeltaForce muffler the cheap $60 Flowmaster one. It never crackles been on there almost a year now too.

whent hey talk about spintech flowing more its not like your gonna gain 10hp or sometyhign insane.. if you got 5 more than hooke ri would be suprised, maybe someone can clear that up for you.. but hooker is definatly a great choice..
just be sure to be ready for tons of people to look at the car drive by or idle, my cars got more exhaust complments than any other part of the car or even itself lol..
