Budget headers and stock heads?
Ok, did a search, but before I buy some headers from Summit or something, I want to just make sure of one thing first... My stock LG4 heads are NOT angle plug heads, right?
The ones I want are the flowtech shorties, because they are cheap, they look like they will be easy to install with minimal modification, and I know I can get the mathcing y-pipe easily. And mod it so it doesnt flow like ***.
I will probably buy them in the next few days, so if you have anything to add, pls do so now. Thx.

if you want any kind of performance, i would wait till you have some more money to get some real headers. and no, you do not have angle plug heads, that's an aftermarket thing. best way to find out is to look at your plugs to see if they come straight out of the heads, or slightly angle towards each other.

Ah yes, I see. I was thinking the plugs would be angled up or down lol.
As for the quality of the headers, I know they suck, but they're better than stock, and I will likely have to get new ones anyways when I do my 350 swap.
I saw most people reccomending the hooker 6055's but they're like $600! Might there be something else that's still pretty good/reliable, but a little easier on the wallet?

the 2055 are only that expensive coated. i want to say that they are $350 not coated from jegs, and that includes a beautiful y-pipe.

Uh, forgive the noob questions, but...what makes them so much better? Is it just the collector size and stuff?

its the overall design and quality. do a search for flowtechs and the only positive feature you will find about them in the fitment. with the hookers fitment may give you some minor trouble but the design is better. bigger pipes basically and theyare merged together ten times better than the flowtechs.

Yep. Found 'em. $375. That's still a little up there though. I think I might go for a lower version or something, but stick with Hooker of they are better made... Dont wanna blow a weld or anything lol.

If you don't spend more than $375 you won't ever get your headers to stop leaking. take me and my cheap $400 headers for example it took me about 20 gasket changes including a copper set(never worked)untill i found that a cheap set of gaskets and some permatex copperseal to connect them to my heads now as for the collectors (weld them directly to your exhaust to get them to seal) Just keep in mind that when you buy headers the more money you spend now is the less time you will have to spend under your car trying to make it not sound like a clunker P.O.S.
and then there is the loss of power caused by a leaky exhaust.
I could go on forever because that is how long I feal that I have been fighting my exhaust.
