would this work?

HI all

I did a search on this and really never found a answer to it so maybe someone could shed a little light on this problem of mine....I am going to be installing a set of 1/58 SLP hedders this winter...when i ordered them i was told the dual cat option was no longer avaible....so would the single cat y-pipe work for me ? I want to retain my Dual cat setup ..I was thinking i would "Cut" the "Y" out and join each "single pipe to the cats?? has any one tried this ? let me know thanks ....GTA: ps ..if someone could "post a pic" of the SLP single cat y-pipe it ould be most useful at explaining what i am after.....

i did this with different headers, and yes it will work, i paid $30US to have it done. you can find a picture of SLP's y-pipe on their website.

thanks for the pic!!

I was thinking that i would "Cut" the "Y" out of there and just extend the two pipes to reach the stock converters.....I think that when i measured the SLP y-pipe it is 2.25" ( each pipe) and the stock converter inlets are 2.25 right?? please correct me if i am wrong , But i believe if i cut this section out it should only require a very small piece to be added on to reach the converters.....SLP if your listening you should have never quit making the dual cat set up!! there are many of us who wish /must retain the converters, i doubt that there is another company that makes a dual cat y-pipe assembly that would bolt up to the SLP hedders though if i am wrong please feel free to correct me...GTA...

im not sure what size pipes they are, but unless you are using your car for racing purposes only you should be fine with the 2.25" pipes to the converters, and if the converter inlets are 2.5" the pipes should slip right in, and can be welded. the exhaust shop would lead you in the right direction about pipe size and whatnot, as long as you tell them what you want done.
