long tubes to shorties???
hey guys ive come to the decition to ditch the long tube on my car. mainly becuz im goin to be gettin some dropzone lowering springs and dont want to have issues.
will i notice a gain from goin with hooker super comp long tubes, mufflex y pipe and hooker cat back to headman shortie headers and y pipe, probably throw the cat on there but maybe not who knows and then into a 3'' pipe to a spintech pro street single 3'' in/out muffler?
what do you guys think? i gotta pull the hookers soon so i can send them back to Jethot to have the recoated so i can sell them off along with the mufflex y pipe.

well if you think about it there might be. since id be goin from 1 3/4'' primary tubes to 1 5/8''. ill probably also gain back some more low end torque sing the motor wont have to work harder to push thru the huge exuast thats on the car now. enless i drop a blower on the 305 but i probably wont since i got a 468 bbc

I wouldn't use the hedman y-pipe. From what I have read, it is 2 1/4" into 2 1/2" I believe. I highly doubt you'll notice any difference at all except in exhuast note and tone. Go to the track and make a before and after run to just to be sure

well i figured with my setup id be able to get some more power out of the shorties then the long tubes becuz well for one im nlot making more then 250hp so i think 1 3/4 headers are too much for just a 305. plus my brother had a 86 sporrt coupe and he ran 15.5 with just headmen headers and catback, k&n and not much else work wise and that was with 2.73 gears and no posi.
i figured that if he did that with a basicly stock 305 i should pull into the mid 14's with my set up. i think my exuast is killin my times since ivebeen reading about the shorties vs. lt's and most people said if your not making 400 hp or actually need the lt's then get shorties.

Your peak HP definately won't go up with the shorties. However, your lower RPM torque should go up, and therefore the HP at those RPMs should also go up. Your peak HP may actually go down. But, average torque and HP should go up because 1-3/4" primaries are too large for a mostly-stock 305.
