Exhaust leak from header....difficult to do?

I still don't have a jack or jackstands, but I know it is coming from the header...it is annoying and I get high off the fumes... HELP

Okay I spent 80 bucks on jackstands, 2 1/2 ton jack, and a jeepers creeper JEEPERS CREEPERS WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE PEEPERS...WERE DID YOU GET THOSE EYES?

I tightened and it is still there, it is without a doubt the headers I can see condensation (sp)

If you're seeing it up at the heads. you may just have to replace the exhaust gaskets. I had one start leaking on a road trip and before I could get it tightened up it had burned the gasket. Only choice at that point was to replace the gasket. Wouldn't seal otherwise....

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, I know that's no fun. Hopefully your problem is on the driver's side since it's a little easier to get to (wouldn't be with my luck though....)

If you have cheaper headers and paperboard-type gaskets get used to this. You probably will develop the skill of doing this by yourself, espically if you're friends have camaros and headers like yourself

Yea, don't skimp on the header gaskets.... it's worth it to get the good ones. Seems like people have good success with the deadsoft aluminum or copper ones. I had some very good ones - the Earl's with the graphite inserts, but they can be hard to work with because on mine, the inserts kept falling out when I was trying to put them on, but once you get them on, I don't think they will ever blow out. I would also highly recommend the stage 8 locking header bolts. They will keep the bolts from backing out and loosening up, which leads to the gaskets blowing out. Unfortunately, I dropped two of my clips and they got lost in the frame somewhere so I have a couple that I'll need to check regularly.

I'm using the Percy's Dead Soft multi-layer aluminum gaskets (not cheap by any means) and the headers are SLP Tri-Y's. Not cheapies either. The bolts are cheapies - I had to go with hardware store allen head bolts to get them in and be able to tighten them up w/o pulling the motor. WIsh I could handle a locking style bolt a couple of hours so I could see if they would even fit. Maybe I can find some locally and check them out....

i hate to diss on the gaskets, but i'v learned from a couple of engine machinists, one guy a dragster and has never had a leak, but if u have the headers service smoothed so there perfectly flat, u shouldnt have to worry bout the headers ever leaking,

deadsoft aluminum gaskets will stop the leaks unless the headers are warped beyond repair.
