I was looking into something that includes a new y-pipe and this showed up, is there a better system out there that is around the same price and is this the cheapest place to acquire this system?

i've heard really good things about them, and almost bought them myself, but i decided to go longtubes/true duals instead. it appears that that is the cheapest place to get them. the hooker 2055's are a bit cheaper if you get them uncoated, and i have heard really good things about the hookers. most folks want them coated though. the mac's are not ceramic coated, however, but have some kinda high-temp paint of some sort on there. i don't know how well they hold up appearance wise though.

I've never read anyone here say they're using the MAC header system, but I've read a few say they're interested in it. I too think it looks like a good system, and it can be had with or without AIR. I'm considering it eventually, and the Y-pipe is a big part of my decision.
I currently run the MAC stock-replacement Y-pipe. It's excellent--a little larger and much better than the stock Y-pipe. It's solid, one-piece and mandrel-bent--very nicely made! The Y-pipe included with the headers is similar. After seeing the MAC Y-pipes, it's my opinion that they're are probably the BEST available.
The silver "HTS" paint coating doesn't seem like anything special though, but it's held-up well and looks good. But I'd think you could send the headers out to be thermal-coated, if that's what you wanted to do.

I plan to use the 3" MAC Y-pipe with the SLP 1 and 3/4ths shorties. I agree the MAC Y-pipes are great. I got the Y-pipe here in my garage, and the SLP's on another car (need to remove them). I have not decided on the rest of the exhaust system yet, but this will be going on a vortech blown L98 with a HSR and a blower cam.

I actually asked this same question on my car club site, afbforums.com. Quote taken from Benny:
" I've had a set on my 92 RS for about 2 years, they fit/sound/work great. Plug access is good. The y-pipe interfered with my old style boxed Spohn subframes, but a dremel and air grinder took care of that. The coating sucks though, they looked good for the first 6 months to a year, but when I pulled them a few weeks ago they were kind of rusty. However, I've only started the car 3-4 times over the past year so that might have had some effect. dunno.gif As for installation, I had the engine out of the car when I installed mine, but with the headers mounted on the engine, it dropped right into the car with plenty of clearance. When I pulled the headers though, I only removed the spark plugs, AIR solenoid box and unbolted the valve covers, then they both came out the top fairly easily."
