How should I build my exhaust?

Hi,
I've got an 1982 Z-28. And doin' a engine rebuild. So, I'm going to put some new headers in, I think Hookers, 3". The rest of the exhaust I wanna build by myself. Because a complete system is al little bit too expensive for the car. Just wanna race it a little bit, 2-years or so. So I'm not buyin a sytem for 2000 Euros.
But what is the best way to do that.
Going with 2, 3" pipes to the back?
Or get with 2, 3" pipes from the header in one 3" to the back, like it ist originally? And then in the back, back to 2?
I would choose 2 3" to the rear of the car. And not this many 90 degrees corners. Just 2 pipes with two free-flow muffler for each pipe. And thats it.
What u think?
Thx
Hawk

Your best bet is to go with a single 3" exhaust of your choice. If you choose to go custom you will more than liekly surpass the cost of a pre-fabbed cat-back.

I would say that you should just get a pre-fabbed cat-back, but I'm not sure what shipping costs would be to Germany.

If you want true duals though, get a X pipe if you want to make maticulous measurements and make sure from each header to where the pipes cross are the EXACT same length. Or if you dont want to do that, use an H pipe.

Then go w/ 2 1/2 inch (I dont know what that would be in metric measurements lol) dual pipes. Unless you're boasting a 500rwhp motor, you wont need any bigger than that.

Again, I would get a pre-fabbed cat-back if you can and the shipping charges dont rape you.

a 3in catback of your taste with longtubes and a 3in y would be your best, hassle free bet. Bending your own system up would be more costly and time consuming.

with a stock type exhaust system set-up you don't have to worry about ground clearance either.

I'm running a dual exhaust set-up with about 3 inches clearance at the lowest point. If i had extra money I'd go with what i said above, but I'm leaving for the Corps in two months, so why spend money on a car I can only drive a while longer anyways?

Just my thoughts, best of luck!

On a 3rd gen? I think not. My 3" I-pipe is about 2" off the ground and it is routed in the stock position and practically hitting the floor boards. Running duals over a section of floor board that doesn't have any recesses in it puts the exhaust even close to the ground.
