How much gain swapping in LT's w/3.5in. mufflex over Full SLP on 383??
my friend just installed Hooker 2210's with the mufflex 3 inch y-pipe to a 4 inch catback n spintech muffler. its sounds unbelievable and want to make the swap
right now i have SLP coated 1 3/4 shorties to an SLP 3 inch catback...this is on an 88GTA W/ 383 with trick flow 23* CNC duttwieler heads, 9.9 to 1 compression, comp hyd. roller 528/539 lift 230/234 duration @.050, 1.5 rockers, 30lb SVO's, stealthram, 52mm TB, ram air kit, MSD
how much gain could i expect changing over to the long tubes and the 3.5 or maybe even 4 inch mufflex catback...the 4 inch is way loud and for over 400hp so i dunno
my car was on the dyno and made:
355HP
387ft. lbs torque before the aluminum driveshaft n slp catback

you will make a gain going to the longtubes and mufflex catback... whether it would be the best hp/dollar is another thing though. Basically you're looking at spending well over 1000 for a 5 - 10 hp gain.
I wouldnt bother with it, and would just stay w/ the exhaust you have now... or just go with the mufflex catback and stay with your shorty headers.

well i could probably sell my entire exhaust system for close to 600%$$$ since its almost new...which would cut down on the expense of the long tubes and the mufflex catback.....the hooker long tubes coated run about 550$ and the catback is like 460$ my friend can make the y-pipe at his exhaust shop....so ill be spending another 500$ roughly...
i was thinking this exhaust woulld open this 383 up a hell of alot more and make at least 25 hp more than what im running now
is it worth it, i dunno??

Not to make it sound like 355rwhp isn't a lot, but you already have a high-flowing exhaust. 25hp gain if you were making like 450-500rwhp would be my guess.

yeah maybe you are right about 10hp gains at the most, even though the slp setup is a good flowing exhaust its still a single 3 inch pipe. most could agree it has to be restricting the 383. if you calculate the area in a 4 inch pipe compared to a 3 inch its about double. plus the long tubes will out flow the slp headers as well...thats my reasoning for the 25hp guess
a gain of ten horsepower would suck for the money ill have to spend...so where else could i pull some more power out of this thing....any reason to step up to a 58mm throttlebody??

I didn't have my car dyno'd while it was together. Estimates were 420+ RWHP, it ran 7.8's in the 1/8 on 255/50/16 radial tires. I think if I run the SLP shortys and a good 3inch y pipe into a 4inch catback, that should be a lot of exhaust flow. There are cars running 11's on single exhaust with a lot more power than you have. I'm not saying that to be an ***, I'm just saying that with the power level you have I don't know if it would be worth it. You could have a custom y pipe made into the mufflex catback like you said.
