I used to have that system on my car, I liked the sound a lot and the quality was very good. Nice deep rumble at idle but not obnoxiosly loud driving down the road. Just depends on what you like..some people like the flowmaster sound and some people don't. Also keep in mind the same system can sound completely different with different motors. A stock 305 will sound a lot different(and quieter) than a 500+HP 383. Headers and no cat will make it louder too.

Very well said. This is a popular cat-back but people either love or hate thier flowmasters. On smaller motors then tend to drone with some rasp at cruising speeds. This can be annoying. I would asusme that you have a 350 based on the info under your user name so you should be happy either way. You can't go wrong with any of the cat-backs that are out there for our cars. Flowmaster units tend to be the loudest ones.

My friend has this system on his 350.

It's VERY bassy and VERY loud at idle. WAYYY louder at idle (for some reason... maybe air turbulence?) than my pretty much straight pipes.

But like all flowmasters it turns to white noise and doesn't really get any louder once you step on it.

IMHO there are better cat-backs out there. Flowmasters *SOUND* good but their performance qualities aren't much better than stock.

I'd suggest either getting a Magnaflow or hooker aerochamber (both quality pieces), or doing the American thunder but installing electric cut-outs.

Your better off hearing it in person if you can. Everyone has their own opinions and results.

For example:
But like all flowmasters it turns to white noise and doesn't really get any louder once you step on it.
With my American Thunder system, this is 100% wrong. It gets way louder as the rpm's rise. And as the rpm's increase, so does the aggressive tone.

Flowmasters *SOUND* good but their performance qualities aren't much better than stock.
If your 350 isnt super powerful, your not going to see huge results jumping from one exhaust to another. It's the 3" pipeing that helps the most.

cheers for the input guys. i have decided to buy it. yeah the car has had a 350 transplant engine with holley carb. after the summer i plan on taking the engine back out and installing perfomance haeds and a camshaft but even with these upgrades a dont think i will be pushing much more than 280-300 bhp. so i presume this exhaust is more than capable of dealing with that amount of power ?

Yes that system should be perfect for 280-300HP. A single 3in exhaust usually doesn't become restrictive unless you get over 400HP.
