will it work???

I know ive seen this topic before but i cannot find it. What does it take to make the flowmaster cat back system for 86-91 fit an 84. Is there an easier way to go about it? why is it so hard to find parts for 82-85, seems like everything is for 86 and up.

In the '86 model year they started standardizing more. In the first 4 years, they changed the mounting method almost every year, and it was different for almost every engine type.

What is your current exhaust from engine to cat? I'm not sure it's "easiest", but a very good setup would be Hooker 2055 headers (which include the y-pipe), Catco 9118 cat, and your Flow cat-back. It would all bolt in/on your car, with a possible fabrication point being the cat support on the transmission tailshaft.

yeah i had the same problem with my '83 camaro. i have ordered the flow master american thunder for the '86-'91 models. flow master said the same as five7kid. it will fit but it wont bolt straight in at the cat point as the cat is different on the '86 models onwards. its really not a big deal though mate. very light fabrication, for mounting points, and it will fit like a glove,. my cat has been removed so i dont have to worry about the cat but i think you'll find you std pipe work is 2.5" but the flowmaster catback system is 3", think thats right,. so you might have to fab something up
