The only con to those headers is the SLP coating. I have heard it is very thin and will flake off in a short amount of time. The only other SLP complains you hear about are rust, install pains, and spending $100 more for the install kit and cat adapter.

Just got my Hooker 2055 from JET Hot today. Paid $656.00 delivered . About the same as SLP , but coating is much nicer and the Y pipe is also coated. Plus I believe the Y pipe is slightly larger. Chris

Looked up those hooker 2055 headers and there no good to me since there only 1 5/8's in size I at least need 1 3/4 for my 350. Does anyone know where would be the best place to find and buy them from?

Other than not being happy with their coating, the SLP's are a great choice, the supposed fitment issues I am confident are installer error, i've installed SLP's in 3 different thirdgens with no problems, some people just dont take the time to do things right and expect them to fall right in.
Unfortunately them changing to forcing their poor coating upon anyone wanting their headers has lost them a lot of sales with just me alone, as i've owned several sets, dont have a set now and wont buy them again with their coating. And im not about to pay their coated price to have to sandblast it off. Not only did they lose out on selling several sets to me in the near future, I know I convinced at least 2 people so far this year, not sure how many previously, to buy their headers, and i'll no longer be the first to suggest them due to their being pushy with their own coating.

I think you are probably wrong on the primary size, its just in your head a bit, specially due to whats available and the Y pipe.
You have only a few choices.
SLP is going to be the ONLY that has a 1.75" primary and smog legal in cali. Which it seems thats unfortunately where you live.
The hooker is a very good option which you should definetly consider, they are an 18ga thinwall tubing so its pretty big for a 1 5/8, and i HIGHLY doubt your "350" will REALLY be that effected by a hair smaller primary. definetly not enough to warrant the extra cost and having to deal with SLP's poor coating.
