Can the A.I.R tube be replaced with rubbber? (quick response please)

I just need to know if I can replace about 4" of the A.I.R tube that runs to the cat with some rubber tubing. I'd just use pipe clamps to hold the tubing on. Thanks.

If the 4" you want to replace is close to the cat, then I wouldn't count on the hose living long. If it's at the engine end it has a much better chance.

Hmm, if I use a propane torch to heat up the coupling between the AIR tube from the engine and the cat, would that make is eaiser to take apart. The problem I am having right now is that I can't get the cat off with out taking off the AIR tube and I can't get that off.

Torch is how most people get those connections apart.

Cut the tube, when you go to put it back together, get a repair kit from the parts store that will have some green high temp rubber hose pieces in it. You only need a few inches worth (and you'll love the price of the repair kit).

I used heater hose on the part going to the headers with no problem. No way I'd use it down at the cat.

are you saying the repair kit won't work for the part down near the cat? If not, then what will?

He is saying the repair kit with the high temp hose WILL work right at the cat. Any auto parts store will have it.
