glasspack?

i kind of like the idea of having the stock dual tailpipe look, but i also like the sound of a glasspack, is there such thing as a dual outlet glasspack muffler?

Edelbrock 5509 or dynomax 17227. I've had both.

How did you like the sound of the dynomax? I am contemplating that one right now.

How does it sound at idle at WOT?

I like it a lot. It's the quietest muffler I've ever had on my car, then again it is a high CR engine with headers so it's gonna be pretty loud no matter what. Honestly I think my car sounds great; not even as loud as a silverado with a flowmaster, but you can tell that it's a beast. I like the fact that glasspacks have a nice linear increase in noise as you push down the pedal.

glasspacks have a very unique sound, if you don't like it just sell it off and try something else. That's the beauty of cheap things

There are definately degrees of loudness when it comes to glasspacks. The edelbrock was significantly louder than the dynomax. I never said my car was quiet, in fact it's pretty loud. I'm just saying that the dynomax was quieter than the other mufflers I've had. One thing you have to keep in mind is that my flowmaser exhaust system was full of leaks. As far as how trucklike your car sounds, I think that has more to do with the engine than the muffler. In my car's case, the high CR, big cam, aluminum heads, and headers make it sound distinctly un-trucklike. On the other hand, my stock L03 caprice sounded like a silverado when I put a flowmaster and highflow cat on it. If you really want the loudest I hear the SLP loudmouth is up there. I also heard a hooker catback on an IROC with a similar engine to mine and it was definately louder than my car.

I just ordered a 3"in/3"out Dynomax bullet muffler on Monday from Summit. For $35 you cant go wrong.

I am going to take my flowmaster off and test fit in its place. If it sounds as good as I have heard a guy in my area will custom bend a loudmouth looking exhaust for $300 w/stainless tips.

If this bullet sounds good I am going to have it put up under the floor then a y-just over the axle to dual 3" outs on both sides. My thinking is if I go larger than 3" the noise is just going to be way to loud. Finishing it off with a set of stainless LT1 tips will look good for sure.

I'll let you all know how it sounds on Friday when I test fit in the car.

I didnt say it sounds like a truck , and it doesnt at all , I just wanted to know if the glasspacks would make it sound like a truck , I thought the loudmouth was for the fourth gens and had the centermounted tips?
