Which header to get.

First off Im gonna let everyone know I need to pass emissions so which is the best header.

I am kind of torn between SLP shorty or Edlebrock Tubular both are emissions ready and have good gains. Or should I go with a hooker long tube which is emissions legal. Has anyone ran any of these and what gains did you get and feel?

long tubes will most likely give you ground clearance issues, but im sure some people will post here arguing that..

i just got done putting on edelbrock ti tech coated headers ($400) it comes with y pipe. The ti tech coating is never supposed to rust. You may have a hard time getting edelbrocks to fit in on the passenger side, but if you go from under the car; take out the starter and use a rubber mallot to get them in. Do you have AC? I did not feel any performance gain after installing these, only because i havent got my cat or cat back put on yet. (and because the car is so damn loud with open y pipe i havent floored it) On thursday im getting everything put on so i can tell you then.

SLP is very expensive and from what i hear, worth it. I dont know much else about them

good luck with whatever you choose

Did you see my sticky post at the top of this forum outlining the different headers for thirdgens?

PS: Go with SLP's or Hooker 2055's. Edelbrocks are a poor design, in my opinion.

Sadly enough SLP getting greedy, dropping half their thirdgen headers and forcing their coating on what they still offer has definetly put them out of my option list.

Hooker long tubes are not emissions legal. Their "Super Comp" 2055 shorties with y-pipe are.

The Hedman emissions-legal headers are in the same ball-park cost-wise as the Hookers 2055's and Edelbrock TES. However, like the TES and SLP, the y-pipe after the two banks join is not 3" for its entire length.

the nicest emissions legal headers are the slp's.

the have gotten crazy expensive though.

I orderd the uncoated through summit a couple months ago. they said they could get them. turned out they could not and gave me the coated ones for $580.

Not cheap but they are better quality than others hands down IMO. better material, thicker flanges. the cost blows though. you may try ebay or the classifieds here. sometimes you will find some that have not even been installed.

There was a coated set with air tubes for a decent price when I was buying mine in the classifeds but I did not want the air tubes.
