Dynomax exhaust system question
Looking for a new exhaust for my 92Z28. Found this at Summit racing, part number WLK-17495. Anyone else have this setup? Wondering what you think of it. Sounds like a good deal for $169. Thanks for any feedback. http://store.summitracing.com/defaul....asp&x=27&y=13

Ok 2 things... That exhaust system will more than likely hurt your performance because right now you have a flowmaster system (atlleast thats what it says) and thats probably 3", whereas the dynomax kit is 2.5". If thats of no concern for you, then its a good deal. Dynomax super turbo mufflers are VERY discreet. They sound very similar to stock, with alittle bit deeper of a rumble.

Ever since installing the 3inch flowmaster I have not been happy and want to change it. Doesn't sound that great and I feel performance is off some with it. I don't know.

Well what you could do, which would probably be the easiest and cheapest rout would be to just change the muffler. You definately want to keep the 3" i-pipe...but the sound really depends on the muffler, and flowmaster doesnt flow as well as others so you might get some more performance.
heres the dynomax ultra flo that will fit right into your current setup in place of the flowmaster: summit part # WLK-17227 its $99. You could also get a hooker aerochamber muffler that will fit right in for like $50.
You're best bet to get it to sound better and flow better would be to just change the muffler, not the entire catback.

My flowmaster is 3 inch in and dual 3 inch out. Having problems finding a good muffler with the dual 3 inch out without changing the tailpipes.

I dont know of any mufflers that have dual 3" outlets. A set of stock tailpipes might run you 35$ eaech offa summit (they're made by dynomax). I wouldn't get a muffler just because you couldnt use the tailpipes. I would think if u brought your car to an exhaust shop they could make the exiting tailpipes work on a 2 1/2" outlet...

I had that exhaust and it blows. It's 1 piece from cat to muffler, so you have to put it on a lift and drop the rear to get the damn thing on, and even that was a fight. It's quieter than stock, and about the same db as stock after i hollowed my cat. The only thing salvageable was the 2.5" int. pipe that I left on after going to a flowmaster 40 series.
THAT DYNOMAX SETUP SUCKS MONKEY SPUNK!

I think if your looking for a stock style replacement than its for you, I had it on my old Z28 and I can say it was as quiet as most stock cars, Ive even heard some V6 carss louder than mine was. If I were you Id just do a muffler and tail pipe swap, get some stock tailpipes and put them on a quieter muffler and you wont loose any performance and youll have more choices as far as the muffler goes.

Sounds like I should stay away from that setup then. Thanks for the advise. I don't want the stock sound, I want muscle car sound, but not to loud. I'll keep looking.

I got that same setup you are talking about. I knew it was going to really be a performance gain, but it was a cost effective replacement since the original system was wearing out.
If you want some performance you'll be way up over the $200 mark.
