Ok here is my idea for a nice light weight simple powerful exhaust.

Hooker 2210s then a mufflex Y-pipe into a 4"spintch muffler and a turndown. Thats it. Nice and simple.

What do u guys think?

You would also have little to no ground clearance. The mufflex Y-pipe uses s bends to get underneath the tranny crossmember and the muffler would end up directly under the torque arm and drive shaft. It would work better with a bullet style muffler, but it would not be much if any quieter than open exhaust.(I know I have done this to my car for a brief time)

Sooooooo..........any suggestions on how to get more ground clearance?

I am thinking about just running oval pipe maybe and do duals, that dump. I can weld myself so let me know what you guys think.

One last thing. I allways thought the mufflex y pipe was a great thing to use if you want ground clearance. Was a totally wrong?

I allready have the coated 2210s. THanks guys

I don't have any ground clearance issues with my mufflex y-pipe,but I run a complete exhaust with muffler in stock location. My car is also stock ride height so I have about 4" of clearance between the part of the Y-pipe that goes under the crossmember and the ground. If you wanted to run a muffler other than a bullet style muffler right off the Y you would have to off set it, and if you are going to do that you might as well run duals. The mufflex y-pipe comes in pieces that you could use to start a dual set up,but at $250 its a pretty expensive way to start. The best way I saw for clearance with out cutting up the floorboards would be to get 2 mufflex y pipes(or have a shop duplicate some of the bends from the first y-pipe),take the pieces from the Y- pipe to S under the crossmember then take the duplicated pieces and S back up into the driveshaft tunnel and run some straight pipe to a pair of bullet style mufflers and dump them infront of the axel. You could probobly also put an H pipe in it if you wanted.

Hmmm, sounds like an idea that might work. I can fabricate stuff and I have no problem beating up the floor boards. I have done it before when I thought i was going to run a cut out. Now I learned there is no reason for a cut out on a crazy set up like this.

All I really want is a well flowing exhaust that gets nice clearance. I don't need the most efficient system ever made. Do you guys really think i should go up over the axle? Does that GAIN me clearance? I would think that I can stuff a muffler someplace before there and keep the car quiet.

I am just worried because my cam is pretty crazy and I want to keep the car quiet.

I want to keep the price off all the stuff I have left to buy under 600 bucks. I have 2210s, and tips if i need them. I think the rest should be able to stay in my price range.

My car is lowered allready, Does the mufflex pipe interfere with spohn TQ arms? That is what I have.

OR should I just buy a bunch of 3" or 3.5" tubing and bends and take the time to fab the whole damn thing from scratch routing the pipes in whatever nook and cranny i can to gain clearance?

I want to order all the stuff this afternoon.

Any thoughts, please chime in. Thanks again.

From what I've heard, Hooker LTs and lowered cars do not go together very well at all. just a heads up but I think that sounds like a good setup.
