Thinking about cutting my tips off

They're too big, stick too far out, and aren't even. I was thinking that if I cut them off so it would stop before it reaches the bottom of my bumper so you can't see the pipes, but what about the exhaust fumes? Would they come up through the back of the car??

you may be able to buy some pipe thats turned at a 30 degree angle or something and make your own turn downs to direct it more tword the ground if your concerned about heat or smell.

Well should I be concerned about it or would it be fine?

My tailpipes end before the bumper, no smells at all.

I cut mine off (I hate round pipes sticking out of a rectangular bumper) and no smells or noise or burning. Just ended about 5" before the end of the car (back of the bumper cover).

How hard would it be to cut them off with a hacksaw?

hack saw it takes like 5 min each to cut a exhaust pipe but its very aquard positioning so it will take a lot longer and a very sore arm

You're a monster if you can hacksaw that off it 5 minutes. I used a crappy jigsaw and it took like 5 minutes a piece. Sawzall was roughly 14 seconds per pipe (after I smartened up).

in ct it's illegal to let exhaust end before the rear axle if it;s a 4 pass car. that's kinda the minimum in my book

actually it is illegal to to just dump off under the car here in ct, but you can dump out in front of the rear wheels. As long as you are outside of the body. That is the way I had interpereted the laws.

Legal only on trucks...exhaust must exit past the passenger area....failed many of times when we had inspection

yep.......my old ramcharger had it before the rear wheels...fail....the only ones aloud in Ct are trucks or 2-passenger vehicles with no rear seating like the old cobras or vettes.....even the challenger r\t(stock..the old granfather clause)...side pipes are also illegal,,,welcome to good old Connecticut:
