Headers for vortec heads
I will be putting vortec heads on my car and am looking for a set of headers and y-pipe to put on it. I noticed the hooker 2055 have oval exhaust ports and the vortec heads have square ports. From what I have read the hookers are a better setup then the edelbrock. What other headers/y-pipe are a good way to go.

I believe all small block heads have square/rectangular exhaust ports. All headers are gonna be oval/round. I have Hooker 2460's (almost exactly the same as 2055's) and I like them alot. The 2055's are gonna drop right in. I didn't have to do any modification at all. The difference in flow with the headers and y pipe is amazing! I also wen't with the Hooker supercompetition catback. I have no cat either.
I like my setup alot. Looks good, I have good ground clearence even with sportline springs. Best of all, it flows well. My recommendation is to go with the Hooker 2055's.
Just be sure to research, you don't want to get stuck with a set of headers where it'll be a big project to get them in. "Shorty" headers NORMALLY will fit in no problem. On the other hand, "Longtubes" might require some modification.
That being said, you might even want to go with the Hooker Supercompetition headers. They are much more expensive but flow incredibly well. Seeing that you have a 350 they may be worth it.
Make a list of headers that intrest you. Do a search for each one on the boards here. See what people are saying about them.

After all my research im going to go with the 2055's. I would like to get rid of the air tubes, I would think any exhaust shop should be able to weld the holes up, that wouldnt cause any air flow problems would it. Cant wait to get my bonus so I can start buy parts.

No, you can't get 2055s without AIR tubes, trust me I tried. Since the 2055s are CARB legal, they have to come with them. But, yes, anyone who can weld should be able to just cut off the AIR tubes and weld them up for you. As long as the welder fully welded the holes up, there should be no flow problems at all.
I actually just got my AIR tubes welded up on my 2055s yesterday by a good friend of mine.

I'm running 2055's on my 350 HO Deluxe (Vortec heads). I had the tubes welded. High-flow Catco cat and Hooker cat-back. I'm very pleased.
