Hedman header installation problem

Hey

I've got a small problem with the install of some hedman full length hedders. They don't seem to line up on the passenger side due to A/T lines. Is there anyone here who did this install with a TH350 and had to bend the lines at all? Here is what it looks like when trying to line it up with the ports.

If someone can shed some light on this, it would be much appreciated.

are you sure those are hedmans? the flange doesn't look quite right...kinda like dynomax's and flowtechs.

anyway, is there a problem with bending and moving the lines?

I think the whole tranny line running between your 6 & 8 primaries is the problem . I see no harm bending them out of the way although that wasn't a problem in my car.

I've bent them once to fit to my radiator... I just wanna be sure I can do it again since I'm still a noobie with this. I'm thinking if i can't bend them, then I'll use rubber line for my A/T line (or at least from the header on)

btw I bought them used from a local forum... the guy said they were hedmans and looked similar.. anyway to tell for sure? I haven't seen any stamping of a brand on them.

do not use rubber lines. the temperature that they will be subjected to will cause the rubber to break down and will clog up the hardlines. then you'll be pissed! if you must use a flexible line, try to get some that is teflon lined.

but you can bend them outta the way, just don't bend them so much they crimp.

no markings on the headers? hmm...they ain't hedmans! hedmans have a name tag on them

Ok, so I tried for the longest time yesterday to try to get them to fit on the passenger side. What you see in that picture is the closest I can get to the head. I disconnected the trans lines from the radiator and got some play and moved them. Didn't seem to matter, however, as the header keeps knocking what looks like the lower control arm I believe. I've tried all sorts of dif ways to get it to fit, lowering engine, raising engine, just not bolting up to the head. Does anyone have any other suggestions to get them to fit?

any idea what part number the headers are ?

there was a pair of headers on the Z28 identical to these and the pipes were paired up down at the control arm shaft

two of the tubes went in front of the shaft end and the other two went behind it

close to the starter

real crazy and close but worked

someoen had relocated the trans lines to underneath the engine cradle,,

couldnt removed the header on pass side there until the engine was up a ways

so means couldnt install it without raising it a ways either

good luck
