newb here, school me on cat back systems

hey guys, just bought a 91 t/a with the ws6 suspension, and a 350/700r4

im a big fox body mustang guy, but i just sold my 93 gt and had to pick this thing up. right now its stock, and for the most part im gonna keep it that way, i just wanted to do a few little things i.e exaust, wheels...etc.

like i said, i dont want to mod the hell out of it, so with keeping the stock exaust manifolds, (because i heard they suck to change out) what would be the ideal exaust system for me? i really dot care how loud it is, but it does have to sound good (lol...duh) so what are youre suggestions? i was slightly intreaged by the silgle exaust idea, is that good at all?

any help would be greatly appreciated, and just in case any one is interested, heres a link with a few pics of my car that a friend took:http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=606156

thanks again, mike

well all the aftermarket catbacks are single 3", except for the mufflex 3.5" and 4"...which if you don't plan on modding, those would be pointless...

so what you have are catbacks like
dynomax
american thunder (flowmaster)
Hooker Aerochamber
those seem to be the popular ones...the flowmaster sounds good IMO, doesn't flow too hot, but in your case doesn't matter...

You can also do slight modifications to a 4th gen fbody system and go with that. Your horizon is wide open if you go that route...the aftermarket for 4th gens is way bigger than 3rd gens..

so i dunno, maybe do a search on exhaust systems and see what you come with, there are tons of pics in the archive's of this site...

budget is a big thing too, i mean you spend upwards of a grand on a GMMG system...or a measely 300-400 on an american thunder..

yeah, i'll probably end up going american thunder. i had that exact system on my last car (93 mustang gt with hci) and it sounded great. my car has 2 cats, is that normal? was it an option or something, it still has a y pipe.

but anyways, it seems like these 3rd gen cars have an identical market to the fox-body mustangs, just a little smaler.

flowmaster is soundin pretty good right now though

I got the 3'' American Thunder on a 305 its not too loud at idle but its a beast when it gets over 4500 rpm. You wont regret getting it.

Flowmaster is just fine as long as you don't plan on modding. Also consider getting some high flow replacements for those cats. They could probably stand getting replaced anyway.

Take a listen in the exhaust clips thread for what you think sounds the best.

I'm going to stick with my Edelbrock. Its my first mod and I have never changed it. It sounds good.
