2 mufflers on an 82?
I saw this pic & another pic, it does stem from 1 pipe comming from the front, I think it breaks off into 2 by the mufflers...
This is frm an 82....Is this a custom job, never seen this setup before (not that I want it)

I guess some prototype stuff made it into production...
Just seems so much clutter instead of the 1 in 2 out that was used later in 83 or late 82 I guess...

I have a little diecast model of an 82 Z28 and that is how the exhaust is on it. I have never seen an actual car with it like that until now though. I am pretty glad they didnt stick with that.

My car had that on it, had a nice quiet rumble at idle but would make a woosh sound when getting on it (or so friends tell me). Changed over to single 3 inch and it was a lot better. Can't believe the car still had the factory exhaust on including the pellet style cat.

it looks like it flows like garbage but gives me an idea for a custom dual setup.

My car had that exhaust on it. It was pretty quiet at idle but when you got on it it sounded awesome. It still wasn't loud but it was the best sounding exhaust i have ever heard. The sucker all a sudden roared to life, it was freakin great. I eventually cut out the mufflers and put in some flex pipe. And replaced the cat with a cherry bomb glass pack.
My bullet muffler now is just loud as hell all the time.

yes that's a stock style setup. very curious as to why they used that, although like the rest of the stock mufflers im sure it flowed like crap.

My 83 also had that exhaust. It sounded good, too. I don't think that it flowed well at all but how much flow did a stock 160 hp 305 need?

Mine had that with a gutted cat on it when I got it, I replace those little mufflers with pipe and it was still very restrictive and quiet. Now I got my mandrel bent 3 inch setup and headers.
