Installed SLP Loudmouth on my '92 GTA
Installed an SLP Loudmouth system on my '92 GTA yesterday. The SLP system wasn't my first choice, but it kinda fell in my lap, so I decided to give it a try. The exhaust sounds pretty good. Has a deep, throaty tone. It's loud, but not as loud as some folks make it out to be. I had a Flowmaster 40 series on my '04 Ram Hemi and some people think my truck was louder.
Installation was pretty straight forward. Used the stock hangers (with a little adjustment) and it fits well.
The only negative is the exhaust tips; don't really like the way they look with the GTA ground effects. Might just take some getting used to.
If anybody is interested, I can post a sound clip.

I'd also be interested in hearing this. Ever since I heard the Loudmouth setup on my friends C5 Z06 vette I've wanted one. Would be cool to hear what it sounds like on a Gen 1 SBC, hopefully the same. Do you have headers?

Looks good, but I agree with you on the tips. They don't really fit well with the car's body style.
My Hooker Aerochamber came with dual 2.5" outlet tips, but I left them off because I don't like the way they look on the T/A. I ended up just leaving the tips off and tucking up the piping underneath the bumper of the car. Give the car a "low-profile" looks which works well for what I am going for.
I can post a pic for you tomorrow, if you like. Right now it's a bit too dark for my camera to get a good pic.

Just realized a mistake in my first post; I mentioned we used the stock hangers. We actually used the stock hangers from an '02 Camaro. Sorry for any confusion. That was the only mod required. It cleared the suspension/axle fine.

where did ya get those 02 hangers? I'm not sure if I like the sound as much as i thought i would. It sounds almost exactly like my 70 skylark did with the muffler rotted off. I dont know if maybe the sound clip doesnt do it justice
I almost like the tsp rumbler sound alot better, it doesnt sound raspy like that does.

My buddy bought a wrecked '02 Z28 for the motor/tranny. It happened to have the Loudmouth system on it, so I snatched it from him, along with the hangers.

It sounds kinda like a car with no muffler. The LM2 muffler will make it sound way better.

I heard a SLP loudmouth on a LS1 Z and is sounded like crap. the guy was all excited about it, I didn't have the heart to tell him is sound like azz. I haven't heard one on a 3rd gen. However, I did hear one on a new 6.0 GTO and it sounded good, but the guy wasn't revving it to the moon like the guy in the Z.

LS1s sound like total crap with open exhaust like that.
The SLP is an extremely overpriced hollow piece of pipe. Get a $30 bullet muffler and have better sound
Next to my old trans am in my sig it says "Hear her!", click that its a clip of a dynomax bullet.

That's because it doesn't - it's a "resonator". The loudmount is an overpriced piece of pipe. It's ridiculous that it costs $100 for the resonator. I could make one in my back yard.
The dynomax at least has some toning properties to it.

Sounds like my old 91 RS 305 with no cat, straightpiped out the back...

it does seem like over priced hollow pipes, but on the positive side, it is stainless which does sound slightly different to reg steel, and they will last for 50 billion years without rusting, the construction is very nice... my buddy just threw loudmouths on his 5.0 fox and i think it sound pretty dam good.... but once again.... to each his own... no need to start a war over opinions

Thread is not quite a year old... I dig the sound on that movie clip (in a r3dn3ck, trashy sorta way) but the tips out the back with the ground effects feel way wrong.
Anyone else have straight pipes out the back of a Firebird with ground fx that can change my mind?

mcray, I've been very interested in somehow getting the SLP Loudmouth sound out of me 1991 GTA (305TPI). I know SLP doesn't produce a kit for the Thirdgens, so what did you do? Where did you order, what exactly did you do? Etc, I'm really pushing to do exactly what you did once I can sell my ooooold turbodiesel mercedes and get some cash. Part numbers, websites, all would be very helpful

A lot of people have told me to go with the dynomax bullets. They're cheaper and they have been growing on me. I appreciate the response, thanks

my brother has a 97 camaro ss and he put on the slp lm1 on and i absoluty love they way it sounds at idle. When he drops the hammer it turns heads and sounds great. The thing about the exhaust is it sounds better under load. I thought that ta sounded pretty good. cant want to put that on my bird

Yeah, I think it sounds awesome. If I had the money right now and certainty there wouldnt be any problems, I would snag an SLP LM1 on the spot. However the dynomax cat-back system is a lot cheaper with the bullet setup. I'm going with that route I think. Anyone have a good sound clip of their thirdgen with the dynomax bullet installed on it?

Not too bad........sure as hell better than stock. The tips will kind of grow on you. I have similar 3" Magnaflow tips on my 92, with the same gfx's.
