Heddman longtubes with a T-5

Has anyone got an easy way to make these work. I dont really want to go with the shorties! I would like to put the LT's in but it looks like it would take more tolls than I have! Any help would be great! Thanks.

I bought a set for an auto and put them on my 5 speed car. Passanger side cleared fine. Drivers needed a little denting to clear the slave cylinder mount. AndI havent had a problem with the boot melting yet.

that dosnt look to bad. Did you have to do any other modifications to get them to fit? I think it would be worth a melted boot to have long tubes in my car!

Wow impressive, Ive always overlooked the thought of long tubes just because of all the work I heard they need. What do you do for exhaust past that?

2.5" pipe into 3"in/out 2 chamber 40 series Flowmasters with turndowns at the axle. CarDomain.com Image

The drivers side dits lower because of the way the body of the car is made.

They stopped making the heddman long tubes with the flat standard 3 bolt collector! All they have now is the ball and socket collector. Will these still fit?

No the flange ends up right at the slave cylinder bracket. When all was said and done, I ended up heating up the ends of the primaries where it meets the collector, and bending it down about 1 1/2 inch, and then cut the collector and extended it a couple inches so that it could be bolted up to the exhaust.

ou can notice the extra piece on the 1 header, and see it's been pulled downwards. On the T5, the collector was blocked in the middle by the slave bracket.

Enough work, but definately worth it.

How much do you think a welding shop would charge to do that to my headers? Do you have more pics of your headers in the car? How long was the piecs of pipe you welded in? I just ordered these headers so now I have to make them work!! Shorties suck!!!

It's about 2 1/2-3" more of pipe, but the bending the collector down at the primaries took a while. you have to do it really slowly with the acetylene torches so you don't kink them.

Test fit them in your car first, take some measurements, most cars, it'll end up being a custom fit, but really it's not that hard. Do you know anybody with torches?

nope dont know anyone with torches. If you look at the pics with the 3 bolt flange that the other guy had posted all he had to do was dent the top a little. Couldnt you just cut the ball off the flange and run some regular flat reducers?

A T-56 from an LT1 motor does look like the T-5. A T-56 from an
LS1 has an internal slave.

No, you can't cut off the ball flange. Youd have to be able to flare the end of the collector after to keep the 3 bolt ring on. Plus a blaa flange is mucher better than the gasket type.

I've looked into it too, im still dreaming of Lt's and true duals... Hedman makes a header just for manual tranny third gens, but there pricey. Could be worth the direct bolt in, depends on the budget.

SummitRacing
#HOK-2210HKR Hooker Long Tubes, $409 3bolt flange
#HOK-2138HKR Hooker Long Tubes, $369 3bolt flange

All say they fit manual floor shift transmissions, might want to verify with summit though. There was a hedman set but they are over $560 which is a little pricey. I think i can live with a set of hookers, let me know if there are any other options, i dont want to live with single to split exhaust my whole life

the only problem with the hookers besides price in that they hang down much lower. Possibly limiting ground clearance. I wish Hedman made long tube headers for t-5 cars. Also is it possible to hook the Hedman long tubes to a catback? Seems everyone goes true dual.
