What should i do?
ok im wanting to upgrade my exhaust. right now i have stock manifolds y-pipe no cat and 2.25 I pipe back to a flowmaster 80 series. it sounds ok but i want something a little better flowing and that will support future mods to this motor and the 355/383 im building this summer. i thought about going w/ hedman long tubes w/ 3in manderal y and some form of cat back since i plan on lowering the car and it will be driven a lot i dont wanna go through the hassel of true duals. i had even thought about going w/ just the headers y and a good cat and just run the pipes to the rear and split to two tails. i dunno how that would sound or flow though. so does anyone have any good ideas?

I'd suggest long tubes, non-catted Y-pipe back to a 3" muffler of your choice. Can't go wrong

you can also go with the hooker shorty and y-pipe
its profromance that is cheap.
as for a cat back, its your chooce in sound like hunter said but make sure it is a 3'' setup.

ive looked into the shortys like you stated and a few others but was debating on if a shorty will be good enough for when i drop in my other motor!? the 3in should be depending on what muffler i use but im worried about the headers and y cause arent they only 2 1/2 collectors a/ 2 1/2 y? what would sound better shortys or long tubes or does it realy matter?

Edelbrock 1 5/8" shorty headders with 2 1/2" into 3" y-pipe. The flanges bolt directly into your 3" cat which you should keep but hollow out so you "look" legal. I would also recommend Flowmaster 3" catback exhaust with single 3" in/out muffler. Sure you only get one big exhaust pipe out the one side, but it flows better then the crossflow duel exhaust pipe muffler. The whole setup bolts together easily and can support 400+ HP with the best ground clearance especially if you're gonna lower it a bit.
