Any Negatives to Hooker 2055 over factory system??
The shop I'm starting to use for fine tuning my 88 IROC L98 has suggested I really be absolutely sure before I add headers to my car.
The shop was highly recommended and They build a lot of high end 1/4 mile vehicles and race. I'm very comfortable with their knowledge base.
Is there any negatives anyone can think of for adding a set of Hooker 2055's to my engine, expecially if I use high quality hardware?
It's been a long time since I added headers to anything other than a Honda or a Toyota. Using good hardware I've never had a problem with leaks. I have read many threads where people here have accidently ruined a lot of spark plug wires, but nothing other than that. Thanks, Nitro

The only thing I'm aware of is that the collector opening sometimes is not as big as it should be. It's supposed to be 2 1/2" but have seen them much smaller like around the 2" mark. It is an easy fix but just be aware of it as it will cost you some horsepower if the opening is not the right size.

The only two things that I can think of is the aforementioned ball flange that is a tad narrow (easily fixed) and I personally think the y-pipe sits a little low, at least on my car. I never used to scrape on some certain uphill driveways but now I have to be extremely careful around any sharp uphill roads or bumps.

but overall its not that bad, and my front end is low.

How is Hookers Y-pipe clearance with the Eibach Sportline springs? (net. 2" drop) My stock exhaust seems pretty low and i couldnt imagine if i drop it.
