2-1/4" too small??

I've already fabbed up a 2.25" in y conjuction, and have 3"-2.25" reducers made, so i don't want to have to start over i can. What i need to know is if a 2.25" y pipe will be too small for my engine, the engine combo is a 355@9.6:1 cr, p&p 882 heads, cam is crane pn-100052(.454" lift). I plan on running it 3" from their back into a hooker aerochamber.

describe the y pipe - is it 2.25" pipes going into a 3" collector? most people would recommend 2.5" or even 3" for your application. But if its a 3" collector and 3" all the way from there it won't be to much of a bottle neck. However jumping up to 2.5 or 3 will net you a gain.

The collector is 3" and the actual y pipe is 2.25" which merges into a single 3" pipe on back to a hooker. Is switching to a 2.5 or 3" y worth say 15 horse over the 2.25?

With your engine setup anything less than 3" is gonna hurt ya a bunch.

I would, the factory is even building the 6.0 trucks just like that now.

With my cammed 305, I made more hp/tq with 1 3/4" x 3.5" headers, 3" duals with X pipe, high flow cats, 3" in/3" out Flowmaster 50 series Delta Flows, and 2 1/2" tail pipes than I did with 1 1/2" x 3" headers, 2 1/4" duals with X pipe, high flow cats, 2 1/4" in/ 2 1/4" out Flowmaster 50 series Delta Flows and 2 1/2" tail pipes.

I'd run 3" off the headers merged to a 3" collector.
