y pipe hits moroso oil pan

Has anyone use the moroso 6 quart oil and have probles with the exhuast? This s**t is getting old. I have had problems with my exhuast sense the first time I Droped it down. I have edelbrock headers, dual cats, flowmaster cat back. This new problem started when I installed the pan. I had to take it to a shop and have them redo the whole y pipe. The dum a** that did it made the collecters use different donuts on each side. It took me a week to find the right ones. I drove the car about 50 miles and the donuts are done. I am looking for new headers and y pipe that will work with that stupid pan. I would like to stay with shorties. I am tring to stay away buying hearders and making a new exhust system. thanx

Did you get the thirdgen specific oil pan or a generic chevy one?

i had hooker shorties at one time with the moroso pan and the y wouldnt fit anymore.
took it to a shop and added about 2" to the drivers to clear the pan.
good luck.

Ya there is not as much room between the pan and the K member with that pan. I have a 3" pipe crossing over there and can't tuck it up. I thought about going oval at that spot but haven't gotten around to it. It has 'self corrected' somewhat over time ;-).

Not sure about any 'out of the box' Y pipe that would fit better. Should be pretty cheap to get yours modified (but probably someplace other than the last shop you used).

if you have a press or even a car lift, take a few boards and sandwich the pipe between them. do it easy and you can flatten it real nice without losing any interior volume.
good luck.
its worked great for me in the past.

the pan is for a thirdgen. AfterI Istalled it I called summit and asked them what was on and didn't know or heard of the problem before. That got me mad and I couldn't send it back sense I welded the the piece for the return line for the supercharger. I am going to get a set of slp headers I think. If I do I will go ahead and make the whole y pipe myself now that I have a shop to do it at.

i have the moroso 6qt pan and my edelbrock tes headers y pipe wouldn't fit, so i had a exhaust shop route it over the torque convertor cover, but if your gonna do it the way i did it be sure to put some heatsink wrap where the pipe is under the convertor or risk burning up the trans like i did.

I have that pan and the exhaust wouldn't fit anymore. I had to get another y-pipe made to fit. This means that my y-pipe have now been narrowed to fit through the smaller gap between the pan and the k-member. It is definately a restriction for my 383. I'm solving that with a set of LT's and a true dual!

the solution is to run REAL headers (AKA longtubes) and deal with the small compromise of getting the pipe out near the trans, instead of running crappy headers, and turning them tight to cut under your oil pan.

I have the same pan and the SLP headers. I was mocking the whole thing up on the engine stand and noticed the y pipe was hitting the pan. Without it being in the car, I don't know how much I can change the y pipe. I was thinking about making a custom y pipe anyway. I was also wondering a tubular k member would give me more room.

i had a muffler shop just add 2" to the drivers side going up to the header.
heated up the pipe a lil bit and bent it down so it cleared before making the extension.

I also have the Moroso 6 quart oil pan which I'm using in my new buildup. I knew ahead of time this might be a problem. I had the local welding shop notch the front of the oil pan to give more clearance for the exhaust pipe. Worked like a charm. In fact I'm running a 2 3/4" pipe in there with plenty of clearance.
