long tubes..

i have a pair of long tube headers that i have gotten for free. my question is, can i take the stock air lines off my manifolds and put them on my headers?

is this a good idea? ive been hearing alot of both sides and cant really make up my mind

uhmm well i mean if the headers dont have holes bungs for them then youre gonna have to have some welded on them,

i mean..

but even then the shape of the lines may not allow them to make it to the hles right, you know,

so hmm

you better take the lines sets and lay them on the headers up by the outlets of the exhaust ports and see if they evne line up well enough first

good luck

Can you? If you have a welder and you're handy with it, yes.

Good idea.. umm well if you're doing it to pass emissions then no, because usually LTs are illegal anyway, and where they're not illegal doesn't have a visual inspection usually.. If you're just doing it to be kind to the environment.. don't. The AIR pump doesn't really do anything once the car is hot and running. Just keep your cats on and you'll be fine, and delete the smog system for some weight savings.

During closed loop operation, the air flow goes primarily to the cat. So, if you maintain the cat and have the engine warmed up when it gets sniffed, it should be fine.

Some TPI applications put A.I.R. flow to the manifolds under certain operating conditions. I've never heard that carb or TBI applications do that, but it may be true.
