Stock TBI cat

So I am driving down my local backroad thats very similar to a country road. Driving, driving, driving, and I look down at the road only to see I am 2 feet away from hitting a manhole that has by some way of magic (or ****ty roadwork) founds its way 2 inches above the road. So I go O **** and hit the thing with my left wheel. Crash boom yes sports car shocks loud bump didnt think anything more of it except wow that was a loud one. So I continue driving when i start to hear something... Pull over and give my exhaust a bump with my shoe and I get a nice crash noise. Now I asume that my exhaust is ready to fall off because the hangars are original and they always had a squeek to em. So I drive home with a nice bump in the back pull into my driveway and take out the mechanics gloves so I can touch the exhaust. Wiggle the muffler not much noise... Move up to my intermediate pipe and give it a shake Ca clunk ca clunk. So now I'm saying to my self wtf. Move up to my cat and its one of the stupid 1/16th in heat shield broke their seem from the cat and is making this horrific noise. bent it up off the cat so it would crash into the useless hippy box and make that hollow noise anymore and now it drives fine... And the whole time I was thinking yay the $800 exhaust in my basment goes on a week sooner...NOT!
