Big time fitment issue...Edelbrock TES

Hey guys...Got a shop installing my TES's...They just called and said there having a large problem with the driver side...It is resting against the frame and is hitting the oil cooler lines...The directions say to unbolt the oil lines from the frame and move with a new bracket that comes with the kit but he says they are attached to the oil pan...And the flange is resting on the frame...Anyone ever see this?

I dont have a Formy but do have an 87 IROC with a 91 350 GTA transplant under the hood that has oil cooler lines but, they do not interfer with the headers. The fit problem on my passenger side is that the header tube rubs against the bypass coolant line that is bolted to the frame. Had to unbolt it and move it a bit. Is this what your talking about?

I just went to look at it...Its the driver side thats the problem...Actually the oil cooler lines arent that big of a deal...Theres about an inch or two clearence...The problem is the header flange is sitting on the front frame...Literally resting on it...And if they turn the flange then its hitting the oil cooler lines...Looks like we are gonna have to hammer the frame in a little to keep it away from the flange...It looks like Edelbrock might have messed up on the production cause theres plenty of room to have the flange(and the end of the header itself) sit to its left...Yet it doesnt...And of course bought them off ebay used(even though they were never installed) so its not like i can send them back

I know when I put mine on, I had to move the power steering pump and slide the header in from the front... it would not just drop straight down... Maybe you are having the same problem?

When I installed my TES on my 89 IROC-Z w/ L98 they dropped right in on the drivers side and did not touch the frame or any of the lines right there (aren't they brake lines?). Its pretty close but my TES is ceramic coated so it does not pose a heat problem. Maybe your motor mount is worn to the point the engine is sitting lower on that side? I dunno, but I dont think its the headers because mine fit perfect.

I currently have TES headers on my 87, and there are no clearance issues at all.....

I had them on my Z28, LB9. I had oil cooler likes, and had nothing hit at all. No clearance issues of any kind. Mine sat with enough room on all sides. I still have my set. Trying to sell them.

Anyways, seems to me like your car got hit a while back. Frame is off a bit, or it is what was said before. The motor mounts are off. Check those first.

Well there on...Had to hammer in the frame slightly...The car has never been in an accident and the motor mounts are fine...We are pretty sure they were defective from the factory...I got them off of ebay...They were never installed before i got them so the ebayer wasnt aware and of course i was stuck with them...The place that put them on has never had a problem with edelbrocks fitting...They were stumped when these were resting on the frame
