I was thinking of getting some hooker 2210 long tubes for the 92 camaro engine build. I am going to have a custom exhaust done from the headers back, and I have angle plug heads so I am looking at headmans or hooker supercomps. The car has sportline spirngs so its lowered a bit. Will there be any ground clearance issues? The car is only driven 20 miles a week so minor clearance problems wouldn't be a problem, but I don't want to be dragging the collectors all over town.

Any help?

I tried what you are about to do. Note that nothing on my car was old, all new. From motor to mounts too all that stuff. So I thought I would have at least resoanble clearance. I have 2210s. They headers themselfs are great. Beutiful parts. But one installed on my car, with sportlines... I took one look under and knew it just wasn't possible. And this was wish no doors and a few other heavy things. Now the car is almost done and I can't imagine how close I would be. I wish I could give you #s, but I can't. It wasn't long ago either. My memory is fresh, and I am not one to turn down from rediculouseness... I like to puch things to the limit a bit ( 500HP 385, T-56, spec stg 3, chromolly DS, moser 12 bolt 4.11s, 150 shot of N20, 6 point cage, lambo doors, full duals with bullets and dumps, 5 point harnesses, all on a strickly street only car that I wanna try and make a daily driver... sorta)

So take my warning when I tell you it is a waste of time. You will not be able to drive around. Check out my cardomain page, there are plenty of pics of the headers on my motor in the car... maybe one of them will help. All pics are taken with stock style springs.

Wow, I was going to get them this afternoon. They were ceramic coated and brand new, never installed. The guy wanted $375 for them but sold them before I got there... I was pissed until I came home and read your post. Maybe it was for the better. Thanks for helping me get over it!

I am very happy I coule help.

As for the other only slightly lowered springs. I would steer clear. Honestly, unless you are making a car that will only be driven on the hughway, I would never, ever do any other springs rather than stock. I HATE keeping stock stuff on my car, and I was forced to go back to stock springs. It sucks. You have to make a decition.... POWER.... Or looks.

I feel like I made the right choice. To each their own. If you want to lower the car and make big power, go with shorties. Thats all there is to it. I am being very honest and don't want you guys to waste $ like I did. Just believe me on this one.

If you like pics, this is one from my CD site. It is the only one that really shows the collectors with relation to the frame. Print that pic and pring it outside and compare it to your car, then imagine and inch off for prolines.... You will see that it is just tooooo low.

I took the picture outside and compared it to my frame and I wouldn't eaven be able to go over a speed bump. I think the headman longtubes hang eaven with the k-member so I'm checking into those.

The only way I would put these on my car is if it had the stock ride height.

Thanks again

sux man. I am still not done with my car, so I do not know how bad my spped bump issues are, but I do know that I have about 4.5" of clearance. Can you measure your clearance and let me know what you have. I am going to be making a new exhaust from scratch and wanna know what to strive for to stay away from the scraping zone. Thanks.

I guess we'll find out how far they hang down and what kind of ground clearance issues I have... My car is lowered about an inch or so. I am the one who bought the headers off of ebay that you are talking about...sorry, guess I was quicker than you...$375 was an excellent deal on pair of brand new 2210's that have been coated...I couldnt pass that deal up, I have been looking for a nice pair of long tubes for a while now and finally found them.

I have read quite a few posts about people with lowered cars not having that big a problem with them hanging down that far...but they could be lieing or not wanting to admit it.

I heard the y-pipe is what hangs down lower than the collectors..when I had the SLP tri-y's on my 305 the y-pipe hung down pretty low and would scrape on some speed bumps so the collectors on the long tubes cant be any worse than what I had...Im going with oval tubing anyways from Dr.Gas to give me a little more peice of mind about anything scraping. we'll find out

Nah... you weren't faster. I saw them at 5:00 am before I went to work. I'll be doing brakes this week and the engine gets built next week so I'm not quite ready for headers yet. I told myself that if they were still for sale when I got home I would buy them (knowing somewhere deep down inside that they wouldn't) so I was a little bummed.

Great score anyway dude, I hope they work for you, but I think I'll go with the coated hedmans which are around $400.

Keep us posted on ground clearance. I for one would love to know if they work.

My car is about an inch lower than yours though, so I think they would be too low for me.
