SLP & Mufflex 4" question?
I currently have the SLP 1 3/4 headers and was wondering if I could somehow get the 4" Mufflex pipes to better merge into the SLP Y-pipe connection without haveing too much restriction? Im thinking some exhaust shops could cutomize it for me. Anyone have something like this done?

Yeah, your going to need to get a custom made y-pipe after the cat(s). I'm currently trying to do the same thing. Shouldnt' be to hard to get accomlised. Just look for a reputable shop that has decent welders and they should be able to whip one out for you in no time.

CATS?? I dont have any stinkin cats! LOL. What I had in mind was to pretty mutch keep the stock Y pipe in tact, but to cut off most of the opening at the end just after the two 2 1/2 pipes come together on the SLP Y-pipe. Then have a 4" pipe oval'ed just a bit at the end and welded onto the stock SLP Y-pipe. So it basicly becomes a two 2 1/2 pipes into a 4" outlet. But I think you know what Im talking about anyways. LOL.

Sounds like a damn good plan. I have always thought the 3 inch cat would have to be a restriction in front of the 4 inch Mufflex pipe. I don't know of any 4 inch cats out there. While I don't have sniffer tests in my area I have had guys take a look under one of my birds with headers, gutted cat and a flowmaster exhaust looking for a cat while inspecting it. I am sure if they hadn't saw a cat there
it would have failed , even though they don't know it is gutted.

Na, what you do is you cut the cat off and look for where they weld the shell to the pipe. When a cat is contructed, only about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of the pipes on each side are welded to the shell. So you make the cut right there and the pipes come right out. I then gutted mine, took 2 pipes that were 2.5 inches and stuffed them through the shells. Then welded the shells back to the pipes. Looks just like it did when I bought them....minus a few inside peices.
