what is this???

i just bought my first camaro and i noticed that it has an exhaust leak. i am checking it out, and i think it is coming from the right side where the header joins the y-pipe. under there, i see this thing coming off near the joint which looks like something that a vacuum line would attach to (but there is no vacuum line attached.) i have no idea what it is and would appreciate if anyone could tell me what it was, i briefly checked the haynes and found no quick answer. i may also note that this thing, whatever it may be, is not on the other side by the other header.

if it is of any importiance, it is a 1987 Camaro with the 305.

thanks.

yeah it sounds like the metal line that is supposed to run from the catalytic converter to the AIR system on the manifolds?

YUP i was gonna say tha same thing. id say its prolly a 95% chance that that is what it is. ur prolly missing the line or it just fell off from vibrations.

is it importiant to have it hooked up?
could this be why i have an exhaust leak?

100% Exhaust leak.... Important for Emission laws... but I'd plug it for now..
