how is this going to sound

I have a 91 t/a with a 305 tpi.

I've just purchased edelbrock headers w air tubes and a 3" y pipe. Also a flow master 80 series w/3" inlet and two 2 1/2" tail pipes. I'm going to run a strait pipe from the 3" y pipe to the 3" inlet of the muffler.

The strait pipe with no cat has me worried, I can only assume flowmaster engineered their sound with a cat. Anyone know what this will sound like?

The exhaust upgrade is for a 150 shot. Do you see any problems?

Thanks

It should be louder at flow better. That would make sense to me. I don't understand where there would be any problems. But I'm no car guru.

I just installed some Hooker 2055's with ypipe, plan to install 3"high flow cat and 30 series 1in/1out Flowmaster 3" pipes...

Here are some sound clips from Flowmaster...

Not having the cat will make it a bit louder...

the 30 I'm getting will be a deeper tone than the 80.... also flow better since 1 in 1 out instead of 1 in 2 out... I don't want to see my exhaust, so it will be hidden... another reason I'm goign with this setup...

Right. Also, a lot of the sound has to do with the size of the primaries on your headers. And in a bigger picture, the more cubic inches you've got will add sound, so will good heads and cam. There are lots of factors
True duals will make your car louder.

Congrats! I have the same flowmaster on mine. Sounds good all around. Good idling, and about 1500 RPM the sound changes to a meaner lower rumble. all around a good choice.

Didn't see this before you got the system on. I'm running 2055's with 80-series, no cat. I had everything the same with the 305 with cat. It's louder w/out, and I'm getting tired of it. No tickets, but too loud when leaving for work at 7 a.m., too loud when cruising to the airport at 70 mph.

It is, however, "quiet" at the track.

Well i guess worst comes to worst I'll have a flowmaster 80 series for sale, and buy a magnaflow. If that is still to loud I'll put a high flow cat on. I just don't want to spend 130.00 on a cat if I can help it

The cat didn't cut the noise that much. A 3" Bullet, glass pack, or something similar where the cat goes would do more.
