True dual exhaust on '82 Firebird Pros/Cons?

Have any of you done this conversion before? Any other way of doing it without cutting off part of the spare tire compartment to fit one of the mufflers? How much more hp is gained with true dual's versus factory set-up? Any pros/cons to either set-up?
Thanks.

i did them on my car pretty much had to the only real problems i had doing it was hangers and clearence we put my mufflers at the end just had to use small ones here are a few pictures

i only did it cause it cost me less than having a y pipe made for my headers the only places that would do it was midas and they wanted 500 (cause they didnt want to do it)

What they mean is there have been alot of post, and do a search....If you always do searches tho, there will be no new information....Searches are ok, but new answers are even better....Wish I could help you with this, but I have nenver done it..Perhaps someone who has will chime in, and let you know the pro's, and con's...Tom

It means this question gets asked a hundred times a week, and there are tons of posts and pictures on the subject from all the many people who have thought of this and done it before you. Do a forum search and you'll find all the posts.

give the guy a break he's got 35 posts you wanna see a dead horse go look at the 6cyl section its the same posts day in and out and the search sucks on here unless u know what your looking for

as far as the pros free flowing = better imo more power the only con i can see about doing is if you state does the sniffer test and not having a cat makes it a little harder to get thru i personally am going with the 3in mufflex system for my 91z that i just bought just for easy install

Thanks Z28 for "looking out" ...Man, you guys are tough on the rookies around here, huh? I found the Sticky w/ all the great pics & info...thanks. Now just unsure if I want 2.5" or 3"? I'm not going to be dragging in K.I.T.T., just showing off. I don't want teeny-weeney pipes, but also would like to stay somewhat close to the original look too? What'd ya think?

There's some saying like, give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll eat for the rest of his life. You found the stickies so that's a good start.

Anyone got any pics of their early year Trans Am with a 2.5" exhaust ending with the tips coming out at the stock location? Please post them..it'd be nice to get an idea of what they're gonna look like before I spend my money. Thanx!
