Reinstalling Emissions - Need Pics!
I've decided to take my car back to stock under the hood, and I am planning to remove the headers and reinstall the exhaust manifolds and all the emissions equipment. Can anyone provide me any decent pics of the stock setup for an 84 T/A? I have all the stock parts but they're piled in a box and I could use help figuring out what went where.
Thanks,
Joe

Had you asked two months ago before I put headers on (Emissions legal), I could have helped you. If you have the emissins legal headers, that's not any different than the stock exhaust manifold...but if you got rid of the smog pump and all that, then it's a huge hassle.

Yeah, I knew it was going to be a hassle, I removed the smog pump as well as the manifolds. However, I saved ALL the pieces (luckily) and am willing to do the work if it gets the car street legal again.

I will try this weekend to get some pictures of how my smog pump and everything is hooked up...as I said, aside from three connections, it's basically the same. We'll see what happens and if they turn out alright or not.

Could you please describe where the smog pump is under the hood? I think it is on the passenger side, and it's bracket is bolted to the exhuast manifold. and it has a couple of 3/4" hoses running to it. Does that sound right? Got pics?

The Smog Pump is the bottom most accessory on the passenger side. There is one large hose going to it that goes "up". Follow that hose up and you come into a diverter valve that touches another valve. This second valve has several hoses coming off it including two vaccume ports. The hosese go to the A.I.R. tubes...one from the Cat and one from the passenger side manifold. There is another A.I.R. tube that comes from the drivers side. I hope this helps! It was a hectic weekend and I'm still trying to get those pictures for you guys.
Thanks for the quick answer. I intent on eliminating all that "stuff" on my 88. I will install headers next week. From what I've been reading, it doesn't appear that any of this crap will have any effect on my cars' performance/gas mileage. I don't live in an area were emissions is an issueplus, it will be a antique is a couple years anyway.
