Still a 305 TBI?

Headers? Stock manifolds?

A shop legally couldn't make dual exhaust until after the cat.

If you get Hooker 2055 headers they include a y-pipe that is 2.5" from each side merging into a 3" pipe at the cat. Mandrel bent, never smaller than 2.5" from each side or 3" once they join together.

so the y -pipe would hook up to a 3"inlet/outlet high flow cat? then i get a 3" cat back(lets say flowmaster american thunder) and That'll cover the whole exhaust? how much gain should i see from this? need any reducers/other hardware? will it all work with stock hangers? i know this isn't exhaust related but do you reccomend a drop or non drop base open element to work better with a full exhaust? thanks much. will i be able to pass emissions? do the 2055's come with all the emissions hook ups? all of this should bolt up correct? don't have access to welder

If you're looking for a shop in NW Phoenix, try Pro Muffler in Glendale. It's located on the SW corner of the 101 and Bell Road behind the car dealerships. They did excellent work on the exhaust on both my 90 IROC and my 92 RS.

Yes. Make the cat a direct fit like a Catco 9118, avoid much hassle and expense.
how much gain should i see from this?
Hard to predict. You may have PROM tuning issues with the increased flow. Check the TBI forum for more info.
need any reducers/other hardware? will it all work with stock hangers?
Almost. No reducers or adapters. The cat hanger is slightly different, so you may need to switch that to a TPI type.
i know this isn't exhaust related but do you reccomend a drop or non drop base open element to work better with a full exhaust?
Again, check the TBI forum.

It will all bolt up (mostly). I'm not totally familiar with TBI (guess what - check the TBI forum), but I believe the A.I.R. check valve fitting faces forward on the factory TBI setup, and faces rearward on the 2055's - I got some brass elbows and nipples to turn it toward the front. It should pass emissions (mine did).
