Hedman 68470 Install Questions/Problems

Back when I purchased my Camaro, it already had Flowtech Shorty's on it... well recently when I decided to pull the motor and do a cam/valvetrain swap among other things I decided to swap my hedders also. Well, pulling the Flowtech's in and out, they slid into the driver side with no problems and had very little problems on the passenger side... but they were much smaller tubes/collector than the Hedman's I tried.

I started with the Hedman 68460 Longtubes, well the driver side slid right in with zero problems but I came across SEVERAL problems with the passenger side that neither Hedman nor Summit could answer, so I said 'forget it, gimme shorty's'. Well, I ordered the Hedman 68470 Shorty's. Had problems left and right with these hedders... I finally got the PASSENGER side to go in and got it mounted, remember... the passenger side was the one causing the problems for the Flowtech's and the Longtubes. Well, the driver side absolutely refuses to go in... which was the side I never had any problems with. I removed the motor mounts and raised/lowered engine anywhere from .5" to 3", disconnected about everything in the way, removed oil filter, but it just won't go in. I EXACTLY followed Hedman's install instructions, tried the header from under the car and above, just no luck

Has anyone else had any problems with the driver side with these Hedman Hedders? Got any suggestions? Makes me wish I maybe tried the Hooker's for a couple bucks more and prayed they went in smoother.

I remember I had to take the bolt out of my steering shaft. about 6-8 inches down from the firewall.

I had to pust my brake lines out of the way some, they wasnt in the way, just a little to close for comfort.

Other than that I dont remember anything.

Yep... steering shaft is what I'm having problems with. That's all I was really curious about, whether I need to move it or not.
