what does everyone have on their car to recommend?
I'm dropping a 350 into my 87 camaro and I dont know what type of exhaust to put in and wanna use what people recommend for a great loud muscle sound. I live in Michigan, but dont wanna get pulled over, but wouldnt mind pushin the limits
I know for sure I wanna do 3" pipes, and go from headers back

I've got hedman full length headers with dual 3" exhaust all the way back with 2 forty series flowmaster. If its the loudness you want, this is a great setup. But it all depends what kind of engine you are running. If it doesnt have too much horespower i would run 2 1/2" exhaust.

I think you'll be fine with 2 1/2 inch exhaust.

CherryBomb
disturbing the peace since 1972
here is my V8 on one.
Just a single Bomb that hooks to end of Y then run straight back.
[Only real goof was the sound of the lense cap draggin in the stones.]

Have similar setup on V6 Bird. No one knows it a V6 unless I tell them.
It 100% covers up that tell tail V6 sound ya get from other mufflers.

Hooker 2138 LT's
Crappy custom Y into a high flow cat glasspack and dump before the rear axle
Sounds good, mix of tastes
Since the dump is not seen from the outside it really helps since there really is no good looking tips for a bird with Gfx

Re: what does everyone have on their car to recommend?
If you are not after the most power you can get, i had awsome luck with headman shortys and Y-pipe, then i used a BS 80 series flow off and old camaro, opened the inlet to 3 inch, had the exhaust shop install a 3 inch I pipe with dual 3 inch tips, i am happy with my budget setup and have no complaints, i also have dual cutouts but i used Headman full lengths.

300 GFWHP? Piece of cake!
What I have that I would recommend: Hooker 2055HKR headers & y-pipe; 3" exhaust the rest of the way back.
What I have that I would not recommend: Flowmaster muffler.
What I am considering: Borla muffler. Might go with a Vortex if the ones I got for the 396 do what I expect.

Five7kid, do you really have 21K posts? Crissakes!
Anyway, I am probably the latest member to be talking abut something new on the TGO Exhaust forum. I recently installed some Edlebrock TES headers on my LO3 (305 TBI). I went 3 inches all the way back and kept the Flowmaster 80 series muffler with the stock turn downs.
So far, I'm fricken lovin' it!!!

Flowmaster Super 40. With 2 1/2" pipe. The super 40 has hardly any restrictions, sounds excellent with a big block.

Re: what does everyone have on their car to recommend?
But everyone of his posts I read are full of knowledge and useful information. I say he should post more!

I'm really happy with my flowmaster 80 series. But I'm getting to the point where I'd like something louder
. I'm sure I am just getting to use to it. The again, I don't have large tips pointing out of the back of the bumper. So mine may be quieter. Last edited by IROCThe5.7L; Apr 21, 2007 at 10:11 AM.

Re: what does everyone have on their car to recommend?
you are gonna get the flowmaster because its the best value. best sound for the price. there may be other mufflers out there that sound a little bit better, but cost a lot more. the flowmaster american thunder catback is a great deal man. but in the end it all comes out to how much money u want to spend.

Re: what does everyone have on their car to recommend?
hooker cat back- better flow than blowmaster, sounds better at high rpm's and is cheaper at $290. that would be my budget choice.

Re: what does everyone have on their car to recommend?
i have the flowmaster american thunder setup for almost a year now. They sound really good for the price. The only downfall is that the 80 series is a very common setup and everyone has them.
