Y pipe or true dual?
Y pipe or true dual?
Im saving up some money for some upgrades to my stock 1990 305ci TBI RS Camaro, and cant decide on what to do for the exhaust. I was thinking about a Y pipe set-up but then I got to thinking about true dual exhaust. This question has most likely been asked 100X but is there a big difference in preformance between the two?
I also want to run cut-outs before the cat on whichever set-up I choose if that makes any difference.
Any help?

Re: Y pipe or true dual?
For a stock/mildly modified motor, I would just go with about a 3" single catback. Not much sense, for a stock/mildly modified motor or anything lower than say 400HP to go to true dual, just more work and more money. Sure it would probably sound better, but just wouldnt be worth it, IMO. I'd pick up some shorty headers while you're at it, if you have the money. But it's your car you do what you want.
