I was planning on emailing the video from the phone to my email and then go from there.
I suppose I need to set up a photobucket account.

Re: Finally have 3" true duals
i really wish there was a sticky somewhere saying buy headmans not hookers. Seems to me you get way better ground clearance with the hedmans then the hookers, despite the minor inconvenience of having to bend them with a manual transmission.
I have my hookers run around a spohn crossmember and past the ds safety loop into a Y pipe and honestly the collector is every bit as low as any other point of the exhaust system. And with a 700 dollar price tag its kind of hard to just throw them in the garbage and get a set of hedmans

My collectors are nearly the highest point of my exhaust. A couple of weeks ago I brought the car into a different custom exhaust shop to see if they could give me a bit more ground clearance. They told me "that's all you're going to get" I say BAH! More can be had.

firebird896 has the clip right now. I personally don't think it's a good clip but then again my desktop sound system is currently down. It doesn't sound right on the phone or on my laptop.
I may be in the market for a camcorder.

Re: Finally have 3" true duals
Thanks for the props.
My whole intention was to build a sleeper. I believe I accomplished that when I pulled up to thirdgenfest and heard that many thought it would be in the "stock" class.
Unfortunately it's hard to sleep with so much noise.
Maybe when I leave this year i'll see if I can lift the front end on regular streets and drag radials.

stock class huh? mine is always in the stock class as well. I figure mine came from the factory with the 1ET rpo code which was the cowl hood and roll bar

You can take 1st stock Camaro
I'll take 1st stock Firebird
Mine didn't come with an RPO list. It came directly out of the GM Toybox.

Damn looks good, Of course this was done a few weeks after I was down there to look at your formula. Wish I could have drooled over it in person
. That reminds me, I gotta post some pics of the formula after I get the new pass. fender on, that is if it ever warms up.

The exhaust was done a little over a year ago. Too bad you guys couldn't have hung around for a bit to check it out.
You should come down to Thirdgenfest this year.

Re: Finally have 3" true duals
After about 2 days of studying, I have found out that (1) 4" exhaust pipe not only out flows (2) 3" pipes but just barely gets outflowed by (2) 3 1/2" duals.
20 | 0 .76 | 0.32 | 0.11 | 0.03
25 | 1.15 | 0.49 | 0.17 | 0.04
30 | 0.68 | 0.23 | 0.06 | 0.02
20 | 0 .76 | 0.32 | 0.11 | 0.03
25 | 1.15 | 0.49 | 0.17 | 0.04
30 | 0.68 | 0.23 | 0.06 | 0.02
unless i am misreading the charts, the restriction should go up with more airflow, but it went down in each case.
besides, two 3" pipes have a higher cross section than one 4".
now, true, there is turbulence to factor in, and thats where the 3" pipes fall short, but i would re check your tests

Re: Finally have 3" true duals
Yes the restriction did go down.. But if you compair the result of the 3 inch to he 4 inch the restriction limits for the 4inch are less than 1/2 of the values of the 3inch. So, you can have (2) 3 inch pipes side by side and the 4 inch will still outflow both togethor. By having larger pipes you can have more volume in turn less pressure. Tests were accurate when we studied them then and they are still accurate today.

Re: Finally have 3" true duals
I thought so at 1st also. But, then it was explained to me another way. The larger the pipe, the less pressure you have but he more volume you can push. It the opposite was true, why do people get larger headers than factory tubes?? to get more flow.... All we did was test dynamic flow using everything from 1 1/2 inch to 4 inch pipes. During the test it immediately showed that (2) 3inch pipes was not able to outflow (1) 4inch pipe.. Of course you have to take in to account turbulence, frition, and heat.

Re: Finally have 3" true duals
I understand the P-V relationship. It's that the pressure goes up at 25 then down at 30
And again, twin 3" pipes have a higher cross section than a single 4".

Re: Finally have 3" true duals
I haven't heard anyone mention the Boundary Layer. Single 4" has (3.14*4) a 12.56" circumference while dual 3.5" (3.14*3.5 + 3.14*3.5) has 21.99". So while the area of dual 3.5" is higher than a single 4", the 4" has less material for the air to cling to, making it effectively larger.

Finally have a video. BEWARE: the video is 16mb.
It's around 3 minutes long. The first 2 minutes are pretty much just the car so that I have it for when I go to sell it.
BTW - does anyone know who can either bend me an intake tube or weld one knowing that it will be polished? They'll be using the temp fabbed one that you see on the car now.
4" either stainless or aluminum.

Re: Finally have 3" true duals
I'm thinking of selling so that I can get into some other toys. I want to start playing with LSX engines. Start with a clean slate kind of thing.
It dynoed 325.32hp and 367.75lb/ft at the wheels on a local Dynojet. Using generally accepted math puts the car at 383hp and 434lb/ft at the flexplate.
I was a bit disappointed with the results.
