which longtube has the best ground clearance?
so i think i will end up having to use long tubes on my car, i dont think the slp's will cut it anymore, my question is, is there a difference in ground clearance between the hooker super-comps, and dougs longtubes? im running sportlines and it is a streetcar so i need ground clearance, 2" will not cut it. does anyone know? maybe a pice of the two installed from underneath will help, id search, but you know the deal

its not the headers that are the problem...its the tubing going under the trans...if you have an auto you will loose more than if you have a manual....with a manual you can run the pipes up and beside the trans....but if you have an auto then your screwed and hae to run the pipes under the trans crossmember.
that just what my take on it is..and I have about a 1.5 drop and im running hooker 2210's with an auto.

im doing a manual swap, but i have a UMI crossmember mount torque arm, dont know if i can get over it. so the collectors tuck up nicely to the floor?

Like said above, the headers are good. heck, even cheap headman headers have good clearance.
Though, with alot of work on the pipe bender you can squeeze the pipes in between the trans and tunnel. At least on my car with a th350c tranny i can do that with 2.5" pipe, i already shoved a piece of pipe in there and it did fit but i didnt have a bender to get it to actually work...

the long tube headmans have the best ground clearance i think, they tuck up nice, alot better than the hookers that hang real low, just my 2 cents, get the cheapy headmans which are a nice piece and get them coated if u wanted, i got them on mine with true duals 3" with xpipe and sportlines as well. i like them and will get them again and get them coated with my engine swap

Re: which longtube has the best ground clearance?
here they are before I got the exhaust run all the way out..you can kinda get an idea of how low they are...by looking at the trans pan.....I used to have SLP tri-Y's and they dont hang any lower than those shortys...BUT once you run the tubes out all the way, thats where you start to lose your ground clearance....so figure from there another maybe 2.5 inches...even with 3" pipes...like what I had put on.
But who cares anyways....Im the only one in the car...maybe 2 people at most......I took my back seats out cause with any more peeps...they would for sure be scraping on every freakin bump...

this too might give you an idea of how low they will hang. I am lucky, ,my TKO600 5speed is smaller so I can tuck my pipes, teh collectors are the lowest part.
