no tailpipe

i have a flowmaster 40 series on my stock exhaust. it sounds MUCH louder and better without the tailpipe. but with no tailpipe, the exhaust is spit right into my tire. is that ok? should i put on a turndown or something?

In every state of which I am aware, the safety laws say the exhaust has to exit beyond the passenger compartment. With our hatch cars, that means the end of the exhaust has to go beyond the sheet metal.

So, what you've got now is not good.

I also can't imagine it sounds better the way it is now. Interior noise has got to be horrible.

Re: no tailpipe

my state law is that unless it is a pickup truck with a removable bed, the exhaust has to go past the rear tires. which i am not exactly doing, with the flowmaster sitting sideways just spits the exhaust into the tire. i just want to know if my tire will get ruined. i like the interior noise, and i want it to be loud as possible, too quiet right now.
