from 12.9 to 12.5 1/4mile???
With only changing my exhaust system???
went from cheap 1"1/2 flowtech headers with 2.5"single dynomax catback with super turbo muffler to.....1"5/8 longtube headman, true dual 2.5" in a #11386 x design magnaflow mufler...My engine was choked big time!!!
low budget dual

great sounding free flow muffler

final product

i know its sitting low got about 3" of clearance in the back, center section about 4-5in
but a had 35kg of subframe connector while being there

for my first exhaust im happy, and by the way i didnt expect much gain from it until i saw my first slip

you could get even more power from a different headers. The exhaust you had before was just crap.

flowtech headers are only good for mild applications no more than 350 fly wheel hp. but that wasn't your real problem that 2.5 " single dynomax exhaust would have been killing you top end

wow.....i was looking around the forum and found this thread......and was gonna ask this question.......question answered....but now i have another..
SebasIroc, have you redyno tuned your car since the exhaust? or was that untuned? Also i take it you work in a muffler shop? I am interested in running this setup.... I was debating running Magnaflow or Hooker areochamber.....i was going to get hook because the muffler was ALOT cheaper but after looking at the one you used.....there is very little price difference....got me thinking.....

Re: from 12.9 to 12.5 1/4mile???
thanks for your reply....btw i gained about .1 in the 1/8 but .3-4 from the 1/8 to the 1/4...would have gone with hooker 1 3/4" but this is a low budget setup, and im not expert in exhaust I work in a autotrans shop. This is strait tube welded with Ubend for the curves.
for the mufler....this sound mean...deep rumble at idle...hell on earth over 3k
part number #11386, btw its an x pipe while being a mufler

Nice gain. I am interested in how much your MPH increased? MPH is usually a beter reflection on power in the same conditions as you can go from 12.9 to 12.5 just by having beter traction.

Wow, That exhaust made a HUGE power difference if all other variables were the same.
I've heard that every 1mph gain is roughly about 10hp~.
Roughly 40hp gained from the exhaust. I can see that since the old system was way too small.

If your car is good enough to dip into the 12's and you had a crappy system like that, then I would expect a gain like that from a better system. You probably picked up 30+hp.

I am curious as to how my car will respond to an open exhaust like that..... .4 of a second! Wow...

+- 30hp is good for budget exhaust
89 formula....this is a true dual to the muffler....no x pipe no cat.....the muffler itself is an x pipe
for your setup I would recommend this site.. http://fbody.beater.org/ ..some of those setup help me build mine and could help you with shorti style headers
thanks for great comments
