hooker comp shorties dont fit with lakewood bellhousing
just thought id let people know! maybe make a sticky or something so no one else goes through this.
the flange hits right at the lip of the bellhousing and you cant grind past it
have a bellhousing for a tko-600, lakewood scattershield, i ground so much out of the side of the bellhousing and starter block with an angle grinder as much metal as i felt comfortable taking off (a freakin lot) and it still doesnt fit, going to have to get rid of them and by long tubes.
lesson learned with 150 bucks down the tube

you always seem to have the best luck with things, sorry to hear your troubles, my TKO swap caused its own rash of issues, and its not even running yet!
So much for the warranty on the scattershield

lol ya ive got great luck, oh well guess not many guys running something that requires a scattershield with shorties lol, they fit fine the flange is just in a very bad spot.
ill get a pic tmw of how much i grinded off the bellhousing its pretty large, dont think i got near anything important tho.
lol hopefully nothing ever happens isnide the bellhousing that requires me needing the warranty

i hope not either, i had to leave 2 bolts out of my scattershield, to clear the oil filter and the oil pan, and i haven't tried to put my passenger side header on yet, so hopefully i dont have to grind anything.
oh well this is what makes working on cars interesting i guess

Re: hooker comp shorties dont fit with lakewood bellhousing
its a 6 qt moroso pan, the bottom 1/2" bolt was causing issues, but i got a shorter bolt and that one is now in
. Im running a oil cooler, so the adapter sets the filter down about 2" or so, a regular height filter doesn't clear the 1/2" bolt that is right under it, and i don't think a shorter one will help either. not a big deal, but no short bolt is going to work there.
did you ever get your trans crossmember issue figured out?

yup, thats exactly what i thought originally, you have the 700r4 crossmember not the tko one. If you did order the tko crossmember you should contact spohn and gripe
and your 2 pics are of different sides of ythe crossmember, i think each sidfe is a different height because of how the frame is shaped

uh shoot, i just measured the other side and its the exact same as the one in the red pic. and i already sent an e-mail to spohn, oops.
maybe i do have a tko crossmemebr and my cars just messed
the 700 and tko crossmembers should be the exact same with the tko crossmember sitting 2" lower

Re: hooker comp shorties dont fit with lakewood bellhousing
the tko crossmember is more like 1/2 to 5/8 of an inch lower, not 2". I wonder if the TKO changed a little in the recent past and the spohn crossmember didnt

Re: hooker comp shorties dont fit with lakewood bellhousing
i had heard supposedly the factory crossmember would actually work but you needed a 2" spacer for the tranny to sit in the right spot
fortes insists that its been the same for the last 5 years
and spohn hasnt changed their design
i have no idea, i have a link to a good place to get a crossmember built, so looks like ill be doing that.
Trying to find out if the spohn tq arm is universal or not? so at least maybe i can sell that
