Catback pipe location...

Hey guys, my old exhaust fell off the 91' bird, so I bought the Edelbrock 3" cat back and popped it on. I realized later that the bend in the mid pipe (where it curves up to go over the axle) was much lower then the rest of the car and figured it would hit a speed bump. So today I went out, took it all back off and raised the pipes, but now they sit right against the heat shield for the gas tank and such. So my question is, is this a safe setup? I figure the heat shield will do it's job, but I couldn't help but think about the exhaust getting hot and heating the shield, which is right below the gas tank. Any help would be great. Thanks.

try and give it a little space just so it doesnt rattle. Also, remember that exhaust moves when you drive.

On another note, how does the edelbrock sound? I have never heard one.

I put on a Dynomax cat back and had a similar issue. Mine is not touching the heat shield but it is very, very close. I have not had any issues.

Here's that vid I had of my car with the Edelbrock. Don't know how good it is, but if you want any more vids or info, let me know and I'll get back to ya. Good luck with choosing an exhaust.
