exhaust gasket for a square port head??

ive got the patriot performance 195cc aluminum heads which have the exhaust square ports and i have the headman longtubes that are circle tubes like the stock 5.7 TPI heads. on my car now i have square copper port exhast gaskets because i didnt kno wat the ports where when i got them but they dont seal worth a $*!?

so if i have square port heads and circle port headers what gasket do i get. if i get the circle port gaskets i wouldnt think they would seal the square ports on the head.

i ran into this same problem a while back with my AFR heads, sqaure port heads, round port headers, tried the sqaure port gasket and it leaked, i ran a round port gasket, and it never leaked. get the round ones.

Re: exhaust gasket for a square port head??

thanks for the response. but wont the different square to round port diminish flow?

wow those are some impressive numbers from ur combo... i wouldnt expect that with the mild cam that u chose and the superram. who did your tuning? and wat did u pay for your rotating assembly?

my setup and what i have already is... and all i need to get is a block/rotating assembly

HSR
58mm TB
30lb SVO ford injectors
partiot 195cc aluminum heads, partly CNC chambers and mild porting 270+cfm at .60 lift
compcams XFI 280 cam. 230/236 duration at .050, 113 lobe, lift is .567/.570 with 1.6rr
1.6 aluminum full roller rockers proform
cloyes true double roller
new roller lifters yadda yadda

i wonder if i'll put out the same as u or more?

and how much u asking for the corbeau seats?

Re: exhaust gasket for a square port head??

yes it will diminish the flow some, but only around the corners because the head and the header are both 1.5" but it shouldn't be that much of a problem unless you are going all out drag car.

the numbers that i pulled with my engine were from an edelbrock air-gap 4 barrel carb, and 1 7/8 headers with a 13:1 to 14.5:1 air/fuel ratio. im doing the tune myself with fuel injection, but im still working on that... takes time. i think i paid around $2200 for the short block including the balancer and they supplied me with the roller block. the reason i chose this cam if for street purpose and im in CA so gotta keep the smog guys happy, and plus it is the perfect cam for the superram.

im asking $500 for the seats, you can click the link in my signature for some pics.

Re: exhaust gasket for a square port head??

oh i gotcha... wat do u think u'll be pulling with the superram? i think u might lose alil vs the carbs setup cuz the superram wont have as high of a torque band. your torque i think would be close or or maybe alil higher.

still those are some good numbers from such a mild cam.

where did u purchase the shortblock from?
