EXPERTs... how would these 2 exhaust differ in sound?
just like the title say, how would these two exhaust compare to each other in sound and in flow? they are both 3in/3out... I need a answer today! thank you!
they both will be ran with long tube headman headers, and no cat
is one going to be more:
rhaspy?
deeper?
louder?
flow more?
ANSWERS PLEASE!

they probably flow about the same. i'd imagine that the round muffler will be louder, but possibly raspy depending on the mods to the engine. i know you'd be very happy with the oval muffler. a buddy of mine has one and it sounds amazing. very mellow at idle, but boy oh boy does it let you know it's there when he mats the loud pedal!

the guy said it should sound similar...
my engine is a 383 stroker, 6.3L, my cam is duration is 214 int./224 exh. @ 50 my lift on that cam is 0.442 int./0.465 exh. lift with 112
my headman long tubes have 3" collectors, going to a 3" wye pipe, into a single 3" main pipe, NO cat, and need a muffler bad...
this is the last piece of the puzzle..
I love deep notes, I hate rahspy, I want it to be loud when i stomp on her good... but I would like it to be little quite @ idle, sorta like a lil sleeper, till I open her up... I travel with my windows up most of the time...

common guys..
i just spoke with him on the phone, and he just sent me a link to this video. he said this is the closest thing he can find that sounded like his round magnaflow...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i92Azi7gyhM
but minded this clip is with cat converter and stock headers...
no idea what longtubes, no cat, and my bigger 6.3L with my cam lift and duration gonna sound like...

with your motor any muffler will sound nice. Hey, if its cheap give it a try. Magnaflows have a real nice sound.
Re: EXPERTs... how would these 2 exhaust differ in sound?
i just hate rhaspy you know what im saying? like pop pop pop pop... i hate that... and i didnt know... but being since that muffler is kinda long, it should eliminate that too..
he wants 45 shipped!

if anyone has any idea, or heard either please chime in as well...
but you make such a good point!
Re: EXPERTs... how would these 2 exhaust differ in sound?
well the exhaust "pops" are due to air being sucked back into the exhaust system, and is usually caused by restrictive exhaust manifolds. You shouldn't get that with LT's and any kind of muffler.
The round one will be louder and a little raspier, but depending on your RPM's at cruising speeds drone should be minimal with both setups.
My recommendation would be a hooker Aerochamber muffler and a cutout for the track. Aerochambers sound great on LS1's with LT's and no cats.

thanks for the response...

from what my good budy told me, the round one would flow slightly less... 550 cfm vs the bigger one, which is why its considered performance, it flows at 625-640 cfm... which isnt a bad difference.. as far as performance...
the stock flows at 250 cfm... so ill be very happy...

Damn, that thing looks brand new! Just out of curiosity, where are you planning on putting it on one of these cars?
Re: EXPERTs... how would these 2 exhaust differ in sound?
its a picture on page 7... of my build up. page 8 & 9 talks about exhaust as well, as headers and 02 sensor placement... you can read the entire thread from the beginning.. but its very long...

Re: EXPERTs... how would these 2 exhaust differ in sound?
Is that smoke or rain clouds comming out of your tail pipe?
Re: EXPERTs... how would these 2 exhaust differ in sound?

its called condensation... for every 1 gallon of gas you burn, it produces 1 gallon of water... its about 50-55* in that video, you can see your breathe.. my truck runs with a 160* tstat, its tunned that way... my exhaust is so free flowing, and not restrictive like stock, more condensation come out.. even after its off, it will still condensate as the pipes are hot still, and try to evaporate the moisture..

----------
on another note, i was also told new exhaust does that, because of the new welds, pipes, and headers... and it should calm down just a little bit in a few days....
