1985 Z28 Header Compatibility
After much reading here, it seems the headers I would like for my project are the Hooker model 2055s.
Problem: Researching the said 2055s, they list as compatible with 1986 and later thirdgens; not the 1985.
I see this for other model headers as well. Compatible for 1986-90 or 86-92. (not the 85) Anyone know what the difference is? Something one can overcome?
The engine is a 305 F, TPI
Thanks in Advance,

Not sure when they changed from the 4-bolt flange cat (which I know was used in 85) to the slip-fit version; if that was in 86, then that's what it is.
If you're changing the entire exhaust, get the whole deal for a later-model car; headers, cat, & cat-back. It'll all fit as a unit even though the pieces won't mix and match with earlier years.

I do plan on replacing the catalytic converter as well as the remaining exhaust therefore I will do as you suggest and go with an 86 or later kit.
One more question answered. 999 to go.
Thanks Sofa!

Here's the direct-fit system that I use: Hooker 2055's (Jeg's 520-2055). Catco high-flow converter (Summit CTO-9118). Hooker catback (Summit HOK-16823HKR).

Re: 1985 Z28 Header Compatibility
Looks to be at least $1000 worth of exhaust after shipping and without the jet-hot on the headers. That is probably going to be a job for the tax return time-frame.
James,
Thanks for the parts list. Are you happy with that setup? Did everything bolt on or is there any welding involved?
